So I finally got around to redoing my rear flying M badge as I messed it up the first time but still put it on the car.
However this time around I'm trying to shadow chrome the thing. I remembered I had a can of chrome spray in my garage. But turns out it's for metal. But I'm giving it a try anyway. So first thing I gave it a little sand back to ruff it up. I've given it one coat of the chrome stuff but it doesn't look that impressive Nor does it look chrome lol. I'm gonna give it a once over with the black than one more coat of chrome and see how it comes up. Also where should I cut and with what if I want to do the evil 'M'??? Edit Another layer of black. I'll do the last layer of chrome in an hour or so

A.E, not sure if you guys have this near you, but I used this paint years ago to get a black chrome look. I think thats what you're going for right?
I used a regular chrome mazda emblem, sprayed this stuff, then clear coated it heavy. may make it easier for you man. http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tes/tes2949.htm then, I recently painted and made an evil M badge. took like 20 minutes. lol I used a small screwdriver to pry the badge off. but it was also 80*+ so that helps. lol this is super easy to do. I used these hobby scissors to cut with. then sanded it down a bit, applied the gold paint, waited 10 min, then applied a clear coat, and now its back on my car. easy. now, i didnt sand as well as i should have, but i doubt people are going be like, "hey, omg! that guy didnt sand his emblem correctly!" as i drive down the street. lol this emblem has been painted way too many times. haha

I think that paint you were talking about was similar to the night shades I have. I'll try that. But I might have to get a new bad if the spray in chrome doesn't look right :/
As for the evil M I'll try that but I dont have hobby scissors like that so I'll use the barber set lol. I think I'll end up buying a new badge lol.

Smurfy I've done all of that already lol. Just trying to "shadow" chrome the badge but I think it won't work it just looks like silver/grey. :/

I hate to be pain but there is a paint made by one of the hobby suppliers tymia or humbrol and it's a shadow chrome it's actually got it on it. it's black gray silver mix.
shadow chrome on wheels is actually just a paint mix of gray black and silver but it's when you add the CLEAR COAT, you then get the reflection between the silver and the clear. |
