BA Power Windows

The past 2 weeks the window has been rattling around inside the door when half way up or down. And clunking heavily right at the bottom or lowest point. It was moving up to 3 centimetres down the nighway the other day. I though it may fly out at one stage.

So today I take off the inner door trim and 1st thing I see in the bottom of the door is this.

A left hand side / part of this round rubber object in the bottom of the door. So I'm like, "That is good, took me 5 minutes to slove the problem."

Found all the other parts of the rubber still attached inside the window runner guide. It's supposed to look something like this.

And it goes here.

On the pin in the centre there. But now with now rubber inside the C shaped runner guide, the pin attached to the glass moves around, causing the rattles and clunking I talked about earlier.

With the rubber in there, it'll stop everything moving around. So now where do I get it? Mazda? Wreckers? Rubber shop?

I had the same problem - all 4 doors!! Mazda said that I had to buy the whole regulator to replace the rubber things - $$$!!! Got 2nd hand regulators from the wreckers but they soon fell apart very soon after (luckily I got them free). Ended up getting replacement ones machined from nylon (or something similar). Also had to machine new bolts to hold them in place as the old ones are riveted in. A little bit of work involved as have to open up the window winding mechanism to put it back together. Works ok but not as quiet as the Mazda one as not as soft.

Was wondering when somebody else was going to have the same probs. I have a '98 hardtop so shouldn't be long for the rest of you guys!!!

The only problem I've seen with the window mech is that the through bolts come undone.
I recomend to anyone thinking of servicing their windows to mark all bolts so the windows don't go too far up or down.

Ask Cosmo to dig out my JDM Parts Manual - if there's an individual part number in there then i can get them from Japan (or try Australia again)

Not listed, probably part of an assembly.

Just for reference the front door parts are on page 390 and back door page 524. Index is in Japaneese so it's a slow page by page search.

I think I'll just have to get the part made up at a rubber/resin place. Big dollars but better than the $387 that Mazda quoted for the whole regulator mechinism.
