Don't you hate that Marc?
I washed my car today too, but moreso because it was dusty :P planning on trying a clay bar on it tomorrow, although my paint feels silky smooth already so not sure if it'll make any difference.... also bought a D1 spec weighted know off eBay Last edited by mynameisdaniel; 24-10-2010 at 09:16 PM. |

Moved my cruise control light from the area where the dimmer and foglight switches are (down and to the right on the drivers side of the dash). I ended up integrating the light with my ScanGauge on the steering wheel column.
Difficult to explain, so I will post up a piccie in my project log sometime this weekend. Cheers, Darryl.

I have also started to clean the other 3 rims, and mask up the thin spokes so I can spray paint the insides of the diamonds black

Picked up my car from the mechanics - got both driveshafts done, figured while I had him I might as well get him to replace the gear linkage bushings too. The car feels much better to drive with no slop in the shifter and no machine gun noises going around corners. $500 all up including new shafts, gear oil and labour.

I didn't need to extend any wires thankfully. My cruise control unit is a "factory" (dealer option aftermarket) unit that is mounted behind the instrument cluster towards the centre console. The cruise light wire runs down to the switch area under the gauge cluster so it is already long enough to go over the steering wheel shroud. The only tricky bit is that there is a wire that connects into the dimmer switch for some reason. I wasn't going to remove it("if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality), so I just worked around it. It is just long enough to go from the module to the switch area and then back to the steering wheel shroud. As for mounting the cruise light, I already have a ScanGauge II unit mounted in the steering wheel shroud. The ScanGauge has two RJ-45 ports, one on the back and one on the side. I have the ScanGauge OBD cable plugged in the back, so the RJ-45 port on the side is free. I simply got an RJ-45 plug (no wires), drilled a hole in it and mounted the light in there. I also had to drill a small hole in the steering wheel shroud as well but it was already cut up so I'm not worried I will use this post in my project log (along with some piccies) when I update it this weekend

yeah, definitely unsafe. I think mine is 'factory' too, well it was fitted from factory, the brand is AUSCRUISE, found the book and yeah it's suppose to work with the clutch
I've got a little red light on my buttons, but that only tells you when the unit's on or off, not active or not. That seems like something i'll have a go at, don't have a scangauge but sure I can find somewhere better than the current location Cheers. |

That's pretty fantastic for regular driving. 700km is the best I've managed on one tank in my friend's SOHC BG (the one I used to own lol) on the way back from Splendour earlier this year. It was an interesting experience- it was late at night and pouring down with rain with no idea about if there would be a petrol station, but my friends insisted we keep going to hit that milestone. Thankfully we got lucky and came to a petrol station just after getting it, on a downhill slope no less

the fill hole on the front of f series boxes. undo it and stick you finger inside, the level should be up to this fill hole.
The diesel right? I got my 618 from 45L. Not bad for a 13yo petrol car. |
