lol
even if I buy it and mailed it to oz, it's still cheaper than those scam artists...

only $8-10 for cheapest uninsured airmail to mail that book!
$30 is the highest price for the book... I've seen it cheaper

I dont know the specifics in regards to turbos but I do know a bit about the combustion process.

The point of injecting water is to absorb the heat, water is uniquely qualified to do this due to its density. What it does effectively is cool the intake charge down thus allowing for greater amounts of air to sucked into the engine either through scavenging for NA or boost for turbo. When in the cylinder it compresses and helps reduce the amount of NO produced as well. If i remember back to my chemistry days what you want produced is CO or CO2 due its greater density thus resulting in more power from each ignition cycle.

Methanol is added in part to boost the octane level a bit and thus resistance to detonation, but also for its own thermal properties.

EDIT: It can also have a cooling effect on the engine and exhaust temps for NA engines.

Well why should I bother trying to help? Sorry my mistake I'm not sure why I don't just bow to Edwin as the master and let him get you the book easily, safely and likely the next business day.

I hang my head in shame while bowing to the master

I know you were mate... it's cool... I was just laughing at the fact how expensive they are and pointing out that it's still cheaper to get from the US

I meant no disrespect, so we cool?

There's one for $32 inc shipping from an aus site which has $24 off or something. Found it on google, but forgot to post the link.

Kris is on the money, its just figuring out if its worth the time in experimentation to try a pre turbo spray, risking the blades for seriously good cooling (50 degrees F in some cases) and have secondary nozzle post turbo to cool the air again, defeating the point of an intercooler. High risk for some, but with simple tuning, I saw a guy gained 145hp and a 1200rpm earlier spool from 400hp base. Money/hp hat's damn impressive.

it really doesn't matter much at this point... what matters is getting the car running, properly, and reliably

stick with what's tried and true... just keep it simple!

ever heard of the acronym "KISS" before? it means "keep it simple stupid"!

While I'm here, with a crowd. I have a stock wastegate pressure, which I cannot reduce, is there any way (easily/reliably) reduce it? I.e if ecu is told there's no water to spray, motor pressure failed etc on the WI, can I get it to run no/small boost so I could get it home on a second map?

This would also allow me to get it built, registered and mod plated without having to sort out an intercooler (more time I don't have at this stage

just unhook the wastegate actuator from the wastegate, then tie the wastegate arm to full open position.... turbo will get bypassed and you'll see 1-2psi at most

and go buy that book if you can get it for $32 shipped
it is THE holy grail to turbocharging for beginners... it's written in easy to understand plain english with lots of pics too.... it's not a boring school text book!

Yep, as Ed said either tie the actuator open or if you wanted it on a critical failure circuit it would have to be sme sort of actuator.

Even fully open you will still see boost just it'll build really slowly.

He wasn't touching water temps. Intake charge temps.

Indeed. I'm currently at tafe learning about specific heat (how much energy it takes to change the temp of one kilogram of stuff (in this case water) by one degree (Celsius/Kelvin)... Water is 4106J/kg/degree, aluminum is only 900 J. Methanol is 2200, IIRC. Water is a very powerful thing.

I just found this: www.methanol-injection.co.uk

There is a kit for around 220 english monies. Just in case you want to revisit this in the future.
