There are options like MSD window switches to control VRIS
Megasquirt will do everything and it was designed to work with this engine so thats another positive Microtech LT12 now (thanks to Bat) have base maps for the ZE so thats option 3 There are stock ECU upgrades in the US to work with this engine but for the money required to get it to them and back again isn't really worth the $$ spent Or there is the KL31/36 ecu which may require wiring fabrication to suit the VAF(mx6 ZE) depending which engine you end up with There used to be vrtuners to fix the problem also but they are now defunct |

Well good luck with reprogramming the KF chip, if they do a good job then everything should be fine, But my concern is "have you been qouted a price" could be a bit more expensive than you think
Otherwise there is this option and you then know what you are spending MSD Window Switch http://store.summitracing.com/partde...?part=msd-8956 There are many places these can be bought fromI just thought I would post an example cost Here is a PDF from MSD |

Yes and no IMHO
When I had the KF-ZE engine running off the Aus ECU the car pulled like crazy till 6k and was flat after that even though the KF-ZE made peak power at 7k I really wish I had the JDM ECU installed for longer than a week (long story... dont ask) Was really noticable on the strip |

So basicly it works but could be better. Someone did make a VRIS controller many moons ago (out of production last time I checked).
If you could find a shift light circuit that worked at low enough RPM then you could use two and switch each VRIS stage in sequence

Yes I apologise if anyone thought the engine wouldnt work without this problem resolved, its just a limited cause to the engines full potential
Yeah youre talking about the vrtuner, dodgy company that went belly up There are many options to assist in this VRIS saga it just depends how much time you spend searching for them I prefer afteermaket EMS |

Ok I was told that KF33 ecu used in Type R can run ZE engine with no problem as they were almost identical to kl31/36 also VRIS points... Also I can use my existing setup(maf-wiring) and that's a big +... Probinator told me this the dude that makes Chips for mx6/Probes... Is this true? |

Yes the KF33 Vris points will be fairly close
Id expect you to have more than 160hp... ish as thats the power from a KL01/DE Yes Probinator as I believe does make an upgrade chip for the KL31/36 ECU but you may need to send the ECU to him, I have never looked into these before. I believe the KL36 ECU to be from the JDM Millenia so therefore it is designed to use with a MAF So for your setup realistically should be plug and play SO the install went smoothly?? If possible some pics for others to ogle would be nice |

99%
The beauty of it is that you can just unplug one and start it run it and then if theres faults then you can revert back without the added expense of additional wiring and fancy doo dads Try it you may like it |

Just thought I might point out that there are always Megasquirt's for sale through the forums on probetalk, and you can usually find a used one for real cheap
If you grab one of these you will not have dramas anymore |

Pete, JDM Millenia runs on a KL47 ecu and a MAF sensor. However, the MAF on JDM Millenia is different from the MAF on a 323f Hatch type R. Yesterday, I happened to come across a front cut (very rare in Kuala Lumpur), complete with dashboard and engine. The code for the ecu is KL47 and uses a MAF. Snap a pix and uploading it soon.
By the way, what is a Megasquirt ? Is it a piggy back ecu that is design for KLZE engines ? If getting Megasquirts will solve all these problems, I will get one then. |
