Demanius' ADM Hardtop V6 / Lantis Type R

Hi Guys ,

Long Time Reader , Starting a New WorkLog was a good idea.

Fresh Start.

Basically I have a ADM Astina/Lantis hardtop V6 Manual.

Mods :

Now its basically a Lantis Type R , as i have both JDM Spec KFZE Type R V6 engine and finally the ECU to match it.

Revs to 7600 rpm now.

2.25 inch exhaust.

K and N High Flow Panel Filter

Pedders Shocks all round.

Pedders springs at the front

King Springs at the back.

A Nice Stereo System lol

More Aggressive Camshafts/Cams

Polished/ported or fixed the heads up...

The type r motor has been worked to the crazy lol
Well the top end at least lol

I Blew up my engine.....being a twat finally caught up to me.

Main Goal Now :

The kfze ecu will run it. not 100% from dan telling me, im just keen to run with it.

And not being a twat anymore.

Demanius, a heads up. I wouldn't be using the DE ECU if you are going to the trouble of purchasing a genuine ZE. JDM ECU's are not hard to find or expensive either & you will need the MAF to suit as well. phildough has said he will be able to sort this too as NZ has these come up fairly often

Just be aware the ZE isn't that spectacular bud. It has a different 'pronounced' torque curve due to the different size/shaped head ports, cams & inlet runners. Pulls noticeably hard from about 4-4500rpm to redline. I have owned both DE & ZE's and the hype is really just that. The DE's are quick off the mark but you don't get the torque of the ZE's engine in the upper rev range which it's designed for......

oh & change out the timing belt, water pump etc prior to installing the ZE too

Yep thanks naughty. I agree , should be a decent step up from the 2.0 v6.

Thanks phildough.

I have made the calls to NZ and due to the crazy exchange rate it works out a bit cheaper!! $1 AUD = $1.28 NZD
An engine and ECU is roughly $1250 NZD($969 $AU) shipping I guessed at $600 NZ (roughly AUD $465) as the KL is bigger and heavier than my FS
As the engine is worth less than $1000 you are dont have to pay import duties so you have to pay customs, brokers, shipping agents and quarantine which was about $350 for my engine.

Just to get it square its $969 for the engine + $465 shipping + $350 customs/quarantine etc so closer to $1800 odd.
I was told it will most likely be out of a GE-GW Capella wagon or MX-6.
If you want more details I can call back for more info.

You wont get a wiring loom for an Astina with a KL-ZE, you will have to get the loom from the donor car and splice it into your existing harness, it will be a lot of fun but it is possible.

Be cautious.... not all JDM KLs are 149kw KL-ZE, there is a 130kw KL-G4
