Question Gear box -> Reverse

Hey guys, so today on my way back home from Uni i stopped off at the shops and i happened to put it in reverse (as you do) and i had my windows down and i could hear the gear being put in, not a clunk but could hear it louder then i remember.

And then when i went in reverse it kind of sounded like scraping (what you'd hear from breaks, it wasn't continuous only when i accelerated) like a screech.

Not sure if this should raise concern. I'm basically zero technical knowledge about cars but i'd like to think my first car is a good place to learn.

any ideas? i'll have to get it checked up soon anyways just want to give the mechanic a heads up on a few things first.

Does it still sound like scraping when you put it in D or first gear, second etc..... or only in reverse ?

When was the last time you changed the gearbox oil ? or checked it ?
