well i have the answer for my car's abnormal readings....

apparently the computer knows that the front wheels arent moving and therefore causes the car to go into limp mode. no wonder the car feels amazing on the road. i guess it's like a pseudo traction control?

so it's perfectly normal for this to happen when the car is on the dyno. the way to get around it? take out the abs fuse under the "bonnet"

Good to see it was something simple

You should get a better result next time

oh man thats great
the rx8 just disables traction controll and abs when you put it on the dyno, but only after a few seconds, up till then traction control works and lowers power etc.
im really glad it was that simple, i was initialy thinking there wasnt enough air flowing to the intercooler and intake lol

I knew I forgotten to post about this

Latest dyno chart from the 2012 Dyno Day!

You can see it tapering off at the end of the rev range, which it didn't do last time - even thought that run showed less power. I think that was due to old spark plugs that I forgot to change before the day. The major difference between this one and the one I had done two years ago was that the CIA was installed and the car got another road tune (which also got rid of a lean top end due to the custom midpipe.

Overall happy with it as it showed better midrange power than Phil or Marc and we all ended up with about the same power at the end. With the new engine, I want to be shooting for 160-170 whp

Have you though about advancing the cam gears a bit to say 5-3? Or 4-2?

Rev cut is at 7,000 rpm so I would say that is somewhere around 6,500 rpm.

I don't have cam gears in the current engine so they will stay at 0-0. Not sure if my previous dyno chart is up anywhere but it made linear power all the way to rev cut at 7,000 rpm. I know that the cams are meant to continue making power until around 8,500 so my plan is to actually close the overlap between the two cams and retard both of them slightly to get a bit more mid-range and to get the peak power happening somewhere useable

I will be taking my car back in a few weeks as it is running much better after its trip to Sydney and having the exhaust repaired.
I dont know if it has gained power but it certainly feels a lot more responsive and feels like there is more bottom end power, it also feels like the mid range power loss is gone.
I will also get Ric to print a graph including torque so we can compare that.

Interesting, thought you did.

The tapering off is indeed interesting.
