The look very Mercedes Benz IMO
My Efini rims would look good on that colour.

So, last weekend I finally changed the windows from the donor to The Substitute
No pics, but they're just the untinted factory windows, which i don't mind. Now for RWC. Then new wheels and springs. And i might paint the roof satin black as the paint up there is rather bald anyway.

Clean...yeah, still filthy from sitting outside in the weather for a year lol. I was more worried about getting them in before i ran out of time, but it was pretty simple in the end. The hardest part was getting them out of the donor due to forgetting the keys and a spare battery to power them up/down.

So this happened. I could have sworn I'd bought a Lantis sedan muffler months/years ago, but must have procrastinated as i was hoping for it to come down in price or something (or i sold it!)...but anyway, i'd been thinking for the last few weeks that i wish there was one for sale - as it's all i really want on this car.
15000kms old...can't beat that! All stainless catback. Of course it's Mazdaspeed Booked in for RWC Friday, too.

Love the grey. It's a pretty rare color on ba's as far as I can tell. Only 95-96 maybe. In the ba brochure it lists abs as std. Mine had ac as the only listed option. The best way to remove tint is to let a tint shop do it with a steamer. I paid $40 last time on an old 3dr swift. You don't want to damage the demister.

**** you Mazda, **** you.
Who the hell puts an engine number at the back of the block, facing upwards, that is only 30% visible from the top, and virtually inaccessible from the bottom. An hour, of forcing my arm up through subframe and around PS pumps to get a finger over the tab with the engine number, and actually get it clean enough to read with one of those little mirrors on a stalk. The easiest way was actually go get my arm up through the gap above the steering rack diagonally - even then i really needed fingers with 360° joints. ....only to discover that the engine has been changed at some point in time and the engine number has never been updated with Vicroads. ****ing hell. Eh, so i'll fake an invoice. Also discovered the reason why the rear number plate lights didn't work was because the wires had been chopped in the boot. WTF? Anyway, all sorted, just need to get it registered now.

**** thought you would of known where they put the K-series engine block numbers it's worse on a Eunos 800.
Be honest no real surprise it's not the original engine. I love how authorities want proof you legally bought an engine LOL. The amount of engine that well when rebuilt - Do you really re-stamp the block if it's been decked. It's original to the car ? |

I'd known it was in a **** place after reading it on here, but hadn't actually had to look for one before! haha
Yeah, I've always thought that 150 thou was all these really lasted for...and that's probably about right considering this just ticked over 275 thou.

The design fault is in the that fact mazda didn't explain to every body how they desgined the cooling system.
In that you have a separate header tank - designed to SAVE - the end tanks ? what the ****. All in all what it is simply when they got to about 80,000kms or more in Aus or ten year old. The heat got to plastics and bits broke failed and feel off and replacement of any of the expansion chambers that were designed to break then forced extra pressure onto the other parts of the system. 90% of K series into other cars haven't had cooling issues. Once you basically rip out the radiator go to a triple flow dual core and run a normal 0.8 bar pressure cap and normal expansion tank all is fine. The factory stuff just never tells you when it fails till it's too late. Being all alloy it's no different to any modern All alloy engine like a Sr20 - MZR - even a LS1 LSX. Any alloy engine run into the nice danger zones a where the cast alloy can warp, it's easily gone for life. When you consider how many owners in the 2nd hand world KF KL K8 power Eunos 30x 800 Mx-6 626 323 etc all sold, cheaper to buy a 2nd hand one until of course - limited numbers ? |

So, it's been registered for a couple of weeks now. Had to use the battery in another car at work, and discovered that the alarm in the Substitute does work after all...when the remote wouldn't turn it off. Luckily found a bit of paper in all the stuff i got with the car that told me how the master override works. Had the keyfob frequencies recalibrated (as they were out of sync) and a button replaced, but no joy there. Would be nice to have a working on though - when i've got some time i'll get it sorted.
