BA airbag owners

Hey BA airbag owners who want a better wheel

I just notcied this Leather Mx-6 one come up I used the same 626 one on my Ba and was alot nicer.

straight swap over. You keep your airbag unit. As for the cruise buttons leave it or remove and cover the hole. the rear covers I can't remember if they swap over. but it's nice additon

they are the same for series 1 and 2 except the leather. series 3 had a totally different wheel with flying M logo on it.

Yeah been thinking about this one. I think Rupe also has the MOMO ones that fit the BA.

No there is a difference in the Wheel or air bag unit it's just two little casting mounts. I know it's on either the 626 or Mx-6 airbag. I know the BA bag fits direct into the 626 wheel. but the 626 bag needs those castings removed to sit on the BA wheel. Might of only been early 91-93 GE's as early airbagged cars are rare. but I did sell and fit alot of 2nd hand airbags for both models each way.

Damn it. Went to buy the ebay one and was sold on the 10th. I will be looking at wreckers shortly as my steering wheel disintegrated at the top yesterday. What exact model are these found in (MX-6 or 626 or both) and can I use my airbag (as I have a spare here) with the MX-6/626 wheel.

moslty post 93 GE M-x6 BE 626.

the Mx6 was released here first in the world even before japan - but it had no airbag still about 93 as a I think option or only top spec. by 95 it was standard.

the 626 - can't use telstar- I don't think. but top spec 626 auto or manual had leather wrap wheel. V6 only all 95onward but some early models too. Getting harder to find now. Good nick was were going for around $120 back when I got mine for $80, at mates rates at a wreaker. Some places will have them on shelf. They od suffer the same thing but on some I had one befroe that, TOP SPEC leather but underneaither the rim and cover were seperating. So I injected it (syringe with arrildite the slow one) Then sold it when the other one came up.

for a cheap fix try using shoe goo to fill the missing bits, and wrap tightly in electrical tape and mould to shape... did it when i first got the car, and while ugly underneath the black tape, a steeringwheel cover has protected it enough to last this long... just an idea, although mine was cracked and not disentagrated....

Rang around heaps today and everyone that had them were not the leather ones. Thanks for the tip ryan but about a 2" section on the top has gone missing making it very frustrating when turning.
