Dirty scummy inconsiderate wankers

Please excuse the profanity in the thread title

Return to my car today after work only to find out that some tosser has reversed into the front of my car leaving my bumper split/cracked and shifted out of position and also the lower part of my bonnet where you open it from with a massive dent in it. Left me heartbreakingly upset and f***en pissed off because the perpetrator didn't have the decency to leave details. So now I'm stuck with this problem that is going to cost me money to repair when I could've used it to spoil my baby for Christmas. Any of you had similar scenarios? I have comprehensive insurance but I was advised that if I claim through the insurance company without details of the at fault driver I will be required to pay the excess still + the most likely possibility of future payments/premium to increase. What should I do? Fix it privately? If so, what are some good panel eaters you may know of? I'm located in western sydney.
Cheers fellas

I think everyone has been in the same situation at some point in their lives.

What you were told about you insurance is correct. Unless you have rating one protection.

Get a quote to fix it. Then decide if involving the insurance company is worth it.

ie cash cost to fix vs excess + 15% increase in premium next year.

Although the premium increase isn't a big deal if you are prepared to change companies next time you renew. most companies will undercut the other for your dollar.

I once changed my insurer, was gonna drop from rating 4 to 5 due to a claim that year. I went to new insurer and they offered me rating 2 to get my business. And was $150 cheaper also.

Over all it's cheaper to repair your slef and I can tell you now.

you will only keep a car perfect under one situation.

You drive it NEVER. 2nd best is Garage - drive - petrol station - Crusie Garage. All on a early morning. Anytime you park it ANYWHERE your at risk.

last 3 years I can count work place 2 accidents - Only my Boss came to me to tell the truth - The Casual guy Quit- never came back.
At home in my street - Wagon - M2 - Mx-6 all hit neighbours - only some admitted but others are just As you noted dirtty scummy bastards.,

but it's TODAYS world. I have plans for cameras monitoring my house facing my street just for that purpose.

Best to cost it up your self. unless it's more then 3 times it's not worth it.

For younger lot - it's your NO claim that goes up/down if you have to claim more then once.
Most you get away with one claim no issue but it's always against your Excess.
if you pay $300 to fix $1500 it's okay but pay $1200 to fix $1500 your better off paying your self.

Brother had sound system half stolen, mum had DVD screens stolen in the 4WD, I had petrol stolen twice outa my BG.
So just wasn't risking it.
If nothing was done the other cars would have been broken into and more stuff stolen. Just wasn't having it!
It was expensive... But worth it!
It's pretty neat tho... Just log into the server and check up on the house whilst at work

People will do anything to save $1... Even if it means screwing someone else over! So to have to do something to have atleast a chance at catching them out.
Recommend investing in 'crashcams'.

Its just frustrating and annoying. But what can ya do.. deal with it I guess. I was saving up for goodies for her and then she gets injured! AAAGHHHH

Ill throw up some photos but it really doesn't do it any justice, its pretty gnarly (in a bad way) in person.

It happened in parra westfield. If I was the person who hit someone else I'd have the decency to leave my details because I know if it happened to me how **** the situation is to be in.

Anyone can recommend some good trustworthy places to fix her up?

That sucks to hear mate, after having some clown hit my ride and bail, Im planning on buying two of these for the font and back of my car, it starts recording when it detects a bump, worth a look:

just pick up the parts needed from a private sellers or the wreckers and get them painted, prob the cheapest option, best of luck getting it back up to scratch

You might want to shop around. Should only cost around $50 for a car cam

Yeah Ive seen quite a few cheaper ones, although I wanted something with half decent recording so If needed, I can make out number plates day/night, and that also has ''bump'' detection, and is smallish in overall size

For example. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321020299...84.m1497.l2649
If it does a good job I'll get one for the Astina as well. Should also make a good track cam.

I've had exactly the same issue! Nice big dent in my boot door while it was parked in a shopping centre carpark the other day. It annoys me so much how people can't even leave a note! It's not like I'm going to lose my **** at them, accidents happen. I'd just like people to be honest and not disappear like a coward!
