the car has certainly had a change in every area (engine, body, ICE etc) since 07! Although its not everyones tastes, I gotta applaud you on all the hard work & effort put into this thing

So how much power is it putting down now? Future mods?

Agreed, lots of work has done into the car

My fave bit is how you have moved the HVAC controls to the cupholders - brilliant!!! And I can imagine thats its still able to be used fairly easily there.

Gearbox mods?

Well done!

Whats the rev line set at? What compression are you running? Boost?

Must admit im not a fan of the massive sub or wheels, but then each to there own in styles and likings. So long as it makes you happy.

You may want to consider a 626 intake mani if you dont have one already as they are a good upgrade Your gearbox will prolly benefit from a LSD as well. Quafe are great otherwise, get a Mazdaspeed one welded

Theres also a new header being designed for mps's i was reading about it not long ago as it covered theory in regards to runner lengths and collector design.

thankz all.. Ive got a LSD but its under my bed (I was told it works better there lol) Im just waitin to brake something in the box so i got a reason to pull it back out again, wanna get straight cut gears for it.. Its runnin 13psi atm puttin out 167kw atw.. will be gettin dyno on 20-28psi nxt week... With the rims ive always wonted 20's n everyone i talked to said There is no way u will fit them so i proved them wrong.. Im goin to lower to heaps more soon i had to raise it for the engineer papers.. The big ass sub was givin to me by soundstream along wit all the soundstream gear cos i bugged them for a yr to sponsor me and ive known a rep for a while too..

At 20-28 psi a Mazdaspeed LSD is prolly better off under your bed - or sold to go towards a Quaife. If your box survives the dyno, I would look into a transmission cooler setup - whether you upgrade the gearbox later or not, this is definitely a worthwhile bit of gear to help make your box as reliable as possible.

I dont know much about gearset upgrades such as straight-cut, hardened, cryo-treated gears (e.g. PAR). What I have seen is a few of the guys on the American forums with the upgraded gear sets still having problems - I think there was a guy who went through three PAR 3rd gears (at $1000 a pop). All I would say is see what else can be done to the box before just throwing in PAR gears because the look awesome.

Bout time this thing was finished

Saw it in the flesh almost 2 years ago...wasn't tuned, and was barely running but it sounded pretty beasty.

You've done lots of hard work on this James - good to see its all finally paying off

Well, thats hardly surprising

I have been waiting for this post for a while now. 212kw or about 290hp atw is pretty much the limit for a stock G-series box (more than a few pieces of evidence for this on the Mazdas247 forum :P).

As you say at least you have an excuse to pull it apart and stuff some more goodies into it. You probably already have the MSP LSD like I do - although recently I have heard of the MSpeed(??) LSD which is a bit pricier but something Im keen to investigate in the future.

Im sure you are thinking about PAR gears and the like, but something you might want to consider is a gearbox fluid cooler. While these wont guarantee you wont blow your box up again, they certainly help with improve the reliability of the box by lowering the fluid temperature and also improving the lubrication of the gears as it pumps the fluid in from the top of the box.

very nice. I have seen this car in the post floating around penrith.

take it easy on our g-series gearboxes.

The boxes arent much improvement from the lovely kf-kh/bg fwd g-series gearboxes, which cant put up alot of abuse... standard gearset or even with a full billet PAR gearset
