Just get an CAI and you shouldnt have a problem.
I got pulled over a few years ago by HWP and asked me to pop up bonnet. Saw my intake...the pod filter was hidden behind the wheel well so u couldnt see it from engine bay. He asked me if the filter was enclosed and i replied yeh as i had one of them pre-filter covers so techinically i wasnt lying. However, i think u'll run into trouble If u get an SRI whichisnt boxed up. |

Don't ask the police...
They are correct in directing you to your registration authority. Besides that most pods are crap with a capital CRAP so you're better off with a good pannel.

that k&n pod thats fully enclosed is fine.. it sits in its own box. further to that it sits on the stock piping AFM back so all the breather pipes should be fine too.. yes?? however, getting some IC piping, and conecting it to your stock airbox with a higher flowing pannel and geting some more IC piping and ducting to the front will be A cheaper and B more effective as well as LEGAL.. (providing you conect all breathers) pipe wall characteristics play a greater part in your air flow to the engine than the filter itself as even the stock filter flows adequatly enough.. however a riggedy, knobby, rough pipe (expecially the flexible hosing... HORRIBLE) will create more turbulance and pressure losses than if you put a filter cloged in mud (that still breaths)

just do what i did!!!!!
take out the filter, leave the air box in as well as the airbox-to-white resonator plastic tube, remove the white resonator and shove a K&N Pod on the plastic tube b4 the resonator box and your good to go! cold air which is hidden as it is in front of the passenger wheel!!! its illegal but a cop car did a routine stop on me as he saw "blue smoke from my car" bs...open the hood, didn't see the CAI as it is hidden....BAHAHAHAHA!!!!! |

Go the panel and if there is a resonator box remove it as that is a big restriction on air travel.

the Apollo is too overpriced in my opinion for what it is. make yourself a cheaper one like i did on my MX-5 using a Simota housed pod or a JetCo (which is also a Simota but with a different housing). i don't like K&N since they're oiled, all too easy to over oil them, then excess oil ends up on the air sensors.
paint it matte black if you want too.
