air intakes ... explained

Hey guys, just doing some research, i know the deal with pod filters and stuff in NSW are that they are a defect unless enclosed right? Does this constitude as "enclosed"

closed enough?

Won't be buying for awhile, but i can never seem to get a straight theory or idea of "enclosed"

here in NSW wheeler it must be enclosed i.e a box
i dont think a cover will do with the cops
im running a K&N panel filter because of our laws
ive got a pic on my computer somewhere that shows what it should look like

dont speak to the shops. speak to transport. a shop will just tell you something just to move some stock off of a shelf...

I've tried speaking to the RTA before, they just send you out stupid emails that aren't even relevant and on the phone are old ladies that i don't think would know. I'll see if i can attach a link to the question and see if they actually look at it.

i wont trust what a shop says...if transport tells you it is legal print out a copy of the email with all the persons details on it who said it was legal...that way if anything happens you can show them the letter

QLD are the only state that says you can run an intake with it being exposed, have a search on here and you'll find the answers

Im not sure on the NSW laws but if all you need around ur pod if a headshield then Yes the 1st three would be legal with a headshilds. as for power gains, well just say you wont be beating a lambo anytime soon. The best thing about them is the noise IMO.

oh and congrats on the car, look good in that blue.

P.S black rims all the way. (just check legal sizes ect.)

I bet it doesnt have a return line from the rocker cover to the intake tubing, thus making it illegal

Reason I dont like them is that the pod is within the engine bay, mostly seen above the gearbox, where there is a lot of heat...

Heat soak = low performance...

hahaha
maybe head down to the local cop shop and see what say?
cant hurt and at least you will hear from the people that defect the cars
or go down the back of the rta where they have inspections and ask them about it
but i can see it being a big loop as well since the rta make the rules but cops have to enforce them

you could always go to a workshop that does blue slips and stuff could wouldnt they need to know the regulations required to make the car legal and "safe"
