Custom Dash Problem

A while ago when I got my new motor from a wreckers I found a digital dash from a Hyosung motorbike. I had a look at it and decided that I would look pretty mad in the car so I grabbed it

Started playing with it yesterday and worked out the power, ground and neutral wires, however I don't know what I did but now it will only light up for a second and turn off and one of the chips on the PCB gets really f***ing hot and it dosent turn back on until its unplugged and cools down

What the hell did I do to it?
