Loud Ticking/Fuel smell

Ok so i started the car tonight to drive home from the station. About a min up the road i realised it was making a loud ticking sound. Got home (only 30 sec) and its still making it.

Examination under the bonnet locates in around the injectors, couldnt see in the dark too well. But I did smell fresh petrol back there, and we got a smell of it on the way home from the coast yesterday once or twice. Not sure if its related but I need to find the source of that ASAP.

The ticking is regular with the idle/rpm, as the revs rise it speeds up.

Unless this is easy to fix the new/rebuilt engine plans just got moved forwards alot
