just read this off a ford laser forum

kj 1.8L I4 laser rear brakes are the same as ba 2.0L V6 astina rear brakes. *do let annyone else tell you different.

is this true and if anyone knows does this mean I can use there hub on my v6 ? and also I'm leaning towards the idea that it wouldn't be because they don't hav abs ?

Yes, I4 and V6 rear calipers and mounts are the same. Rotors and hubs are different.

The 1.8 hub is 4-stud so it would cost more in the end to modify them to fit the 5-stud. Some were ABS and most were not.

is there any other model say, 626-929etx that I could leach the hubs off and have them bolt straight onto the rear of my car?

$200 is a cheap repair bill IMHO. Buy a new bearing while you're at it too.

V6 has an integral bearing from memory, hence the higher price.

Would that make the bearing harder or easier to replace?

Well you don't replace it - you just replace the whole hub.

Wish I had read this thread sooner, could've answered it for you months ago.

23 is correct for the inner spline on a outer joint on the V6 BA
--
21 = BG 1.8T DOHC AWD
22 = BA 95-98 1.8 DOHC and BA 1.6 DOHC and BG 1.6 SOHC (auto = 22)
24 = BG 1.8 SOHC
28 = BJ 1.6 DOHC
29 = BJ 1.8 + 2.0 DOHC
30 = BG 1.8 DOHC and BA 94-95 1.8 DOHC (auto = 22)

All outer splines are 26 BG BA BJ.

Next time, if you got a tech question. Put a thread in the tech section. I'm sure you'll get a response much earlier then.

Parts suppliers are muching up these joints so regularly. I got sent a 26x30 joint once for my car. Seller tried to tell me that my 97 BA having a F series box 26x22 must have been a special run due to them running out of gearboxes on that day or something. I informed him that they must have ran out of them for over 1000 days, as those boxes were in the cars from 95 to 98. lol
