Thumbs up First performance mod :)

Finally found a CAI intake for a 1.8 BJ at $144 USD. Just awaiting

shipping estimate, which i expect will be large, but hopefully to the point

of it being unreasonable.

This is the coolest looking intake i've seen!!, and may be of interest to other

1.8 owners.

it looks like the pod would be sitting very close to the hot engine.
just a thought

This was my assumption too, but I would like to see for confirmation.

better off putting a box around the pod so there is no engine bay heat CAi's are pretty bull**** imo if they still suck chillis' If you run them so they suck from under the car (watch the puddles) then that makes sense of the $$$ you'd be spending. Anyway, I wouldn't be spending $144US + freight on something that would look nice on a mantle piece in the show room but serves no real performance advantage.

If the pod mounts on the other side of the hole after you remove the air box and move the bracket on the coolant tank then its getting the coldest air possible.
but it really doesnt look like it some how with this intake, You may still need to build a box around it so it gets the coldest air possible.

This is how my car is setup and I have a 1.8 BJ II J-48 I cant think of a better way of doing it.
The pod is mounted outside of the engine bay sucking in cold air from under the front of the car.

I have tided it up since i took these photos but thats the idea of how it works well for me.

You could easily make that for under $144. Although I do like the look of the piping. Filter look a bit meh.

it looks like it would be very close to fitting, the curve seems to be very close to the standard intake piping. would like to see someone try it, although I wonder if the pipe diameter would match the BA throttle body and AFM

I personally would be looking at a different maker, as I have heard some pretty bad reviews in regars to weapon r's intakes...

Isnt that a SRI as opposed to a CAI.

I dunno why they call it a short ram intake. Short sure, but ram?

i thought that SRI orriginated on cars that had vented bonnets and the SRI went to the scoop thus creatingthe ram efect (same as the airboxes of some motorbikes are shaped for a ram effect), where as the CAI is to loong to create a ram cus of losses in the pipe, at best it might counteract the suction..
