New suspension

OK so received my new suspension (thanks Rupe) and decided will install it today.

Here is the new parts ready to go in:

Here is a pic of a comparison between the two types. Funnily enough they are exactly the same height when out of the car:

And here is a before and after shot of the lowering:

After setting the shocks to 3 all round it is bumpier than before but handles a lot better. Might put it on 4 for a while to see how soft that is and then experiment with 1 and 2 when doing a nebo run. Overall am loving the new suspension and took about 4 hours to complete as a few bolts were really stubborn and the rear top strut bolts are a pain to get to. Also found speed humps are really rough now and I have 2 just outside my house.

Cheers Jarrod

Looks good, I've got the same combo on my H/T and it feels good.

Now it's time to go 5-stud

Mazdaspeed Eibach's were on the shocks. I have to say it does look more natural now and less 4wdish but I can hear a knocking noise from the front left I think. Will investigate more on friday as it is my day off.

Oh, that is a trait of Tokico shocks. Guess who makes the Mazdaspeed shocks?
It's OK, you just need a washer or 2 under the nut to take up the slack on the piston.

Oh that's right, Tokico make the stockies. Farks me why they knock then. They must be farked.

Seriously though, bounce the back of the car up and down and listen if the noise comes from the strut tops. If so, you can still try the Tokico fix. But I've not known KYBs to do that.

Will retighten it all then. What a pain it is to get to the tops of the rear struts tho. Sometimes I think it would of been easier to get the hatch but I like my car way too much.

Also, you need to tighten the piston nut while the car is jacked up.

I had to look through the rear window while pulling the shock mount up into the mounting holes and then quickly reach through the back door and put a nut on to hold it there so the rest could be put on. I can tell you it would of made for a very funny photo. LOL

Oh and I have to pull apart the rear parcel shelf which basically means taking out the rear seats to get it all out. Was fun though and enjoyed it.

Still need to get the relay. Have the switch now and the spotties are all wired in. Will get onto that one tomorrow. Might try Mazda up at Aspley if they have anything.

Tridon make one, TR049 is the part no, not sure if it will fit but the pins are in the right orientation

If you have no luck at Mazda, let me know
