marc - i have thought about it and i figured to make the mould the current clear lenses wil have to get damaged/destroyed in some way shape or form, and draping and heating of perspex, although it would work, it will still not give properly clean, perfectly straight edges and the lips that sit in the grooves all around the housing will not be able to be made. the easier thing to replicate is the housing itself, while the lenses will give best results if injected. thats why i bought these ones, cus for the price i payed, they are great but im not planning on doing that either as that would imply i would be selling these, and im doing this cus i want it to be unique
Davo - il keep u posted buddy, im not 100% sure yet in wether or not i would be using this housing or the original one that i have already butchered (but not yet glassed) to get the shape i was after. i might use this housing as its already smoothly curved, and just grind down the little ridges and glass over it regardless, which is what i will most probably end up doing. but seeing as they would have to be adapted anyway, come by one day next week or any time while im on holidays and we can have a looksee how it fits, if its possible u can have have my stock ones i gutted if your going to modify them anyway Last edited by 70NYD; 16-06-2010 at 06:46 PM. |

urhg.. so over these lights right now.. if i never done a massive fail before, this is it.. still waiting on the new LEDs to come, still have no idea if they will be bright enough for the day time.. so fkn pissed off i wasted holiday time.. and the money 2 i coulda bought something usefull for the car (like new seat brackets lol)
if it doesnt work, il throw the old ones back in (which i should of left alone in the 1st place) yep stuck the old ligths back in 2dai. hopefully will get the LED strips 2moro, il throw them in there to see what they look like, but i doubt il keep them anyway. might do more on them over the following months, but its not looking good atm Last edited by 70NYD; 13-07-2010 at 10:43 PM. |

haha
and the clear lights are back in love it. no idea why i made ones anyway (attempted to anyway.. lol) this was my 1st true fail on this car, so im somewhat happy with it didnt cost me that much either in the meantime, as i spent a few $$ on high powered SMD LEDs (6pt of discharge per .25cm^2) i made my dial needles red (looks awesome against the white/blue dials as those are my flags colours ) made the indicators indicators orange (instead of green), stuck the high powered LEDs in the map lights and also in the side indicators as they are more visible than the standard incadecent bulbs during the day, and make a wikid pattern through the clear cover at night i also got some more LED strips to replace the dying ones in the headlights. funny thing is, that is what i was gonna do anyway, i was just gonna replace the headlight ones that died.. but i got a stupid idea in my head that i can make taillights, and not a easy design either.. peace oh and i shall possibly lower my seats SOON but thats pending on a few msgs |

Damn! Take it back and tell them. Mazda did the same thing to me many years ago. Sprayed my car a week later I took it to Mazda for a timing belt changed and got my car back with the front bar scratched all over. I got them to repaint it tho. Never took the car back again and I do everything myself

Yep another mechanic hater here. Got my clutch replaced and now my pedal is fudged and they claim its normal. I wish I could do everything myself. I always end up angrier and poorer everytime my car goes into a workshop.

They don't ring you. You just turn up to an excuse that their so busy. This. After they state they want your car out of the way Hellooooo! Finish it then tools! Once, I turned up to find bird **** all over roof on the recently painted duco. The new 2k+ turbo sitting on engine bay with compressor inlet toward the door. Still there last friday when I went there & I stuffed a rag in there as I was so pissed........ my rant done, kinda to support you guys in your bad experiences

a lot of people dont relise the true value of a good trustworthy mechanic
and if you can find one stick with them mazda mechanics are fcuked anyhow. way over priced, parts cost a arm and a leg, and they dont care. it took them 3 weeks to put a timing belt in my uncles mazda 6 mps kept telling him they had no time. absolute BS im happy with mine my familys been going there for 15 years. top bloke and knows what he is doing. never had a problem |

I finally found a great mech. Old as a dinosaur but knows his stuff. Doesn't give a toss for health and safetyr and happily invites you into the workshop and under the hoist to show you what he's doing or what the problem is.
I took mine in to get the break pads replaced because they were squealing (sign they're getting on in their life) and when I got there in the afternoon he explained that certain compounds squeal more than others prematurely so he just replaced them for free because "that noise is worse than a dentists office at 2:30" lol! Hope you sort it out mate and land yourself A good mechanic soon!
