if you think about this, for a Forumla 1 car to be 1 second quicker on the track they have to spend 1 million dollars...for a every day car that isnt anywhere near that performance level you will need to spend about $1,000-$2,000 to shave off 1 sec, that would be on a turbo'ed car on a N/A to shave off 1 second you would need to spend $2,000-$4,000

in Mat's world I guess haha

The 10 sec thing is same as chasing a particular hp output ie: "I want 400hp out of my Mazda". Too many variables to consider before you reacha hp goal. 300hp may produce some monster you can't drive around town that is nothing short than a pig. Unreliable, crap down low, whilst a 250hp streety may be one sweet road car that you trust to take any distance & get you home

Then there's issues to contend with such as increased engine heat; poor economy; brake, suspension upgrades needed to keep the thing safely on the road; stickier tyres;.......the list goes on.

I reckon anyone on their P's that needs more power than a stock 2.5L V6 MX6/626 or similar higher end performance 2.0L is asking for trouble. They are nippy, grunty lil' dudes with handling & braking to match their power You can't speed around these days & get away with it fullstop!

10 sec car although not possible in a street driven astina. at least you have a goal to work towards. start with suspension and tyres/wheels.
x2, make it stop & handle like on rails

If you're serious mate, I would look at this thread...

I have seen a 10 second 323- it was one of the older rwd models and was completely stripped with a 13bt in it. Called "Pig323" and owned by one of the mechanics who works at Mazbits at Granville. Still not an Astina though...
