Gearbox swap

What is involved?
Might need to swap gearboxes, got a noise coming from under the car
not sure if it's a wheel bearing, diff gears or bearings or gearbox

this is the first FWD vehicle I've ever had to deal with(well not quite, had a Subaru 4WD years ago but I never had to remove the gearbox or CVs)
what are symptoms of wheel bearing gone?, I take it that these are quite a different wheel bearing setup to front bearings on a RWD vehicle

I can hear it when coasting(exhaust is too loud to get a good listen when driving) a type of shuck shuck shuck sound
could it be a CV problem
driving through both directions at full lock produce no noises consistent with normal worn CVs

Just guessing here
