My last eBay purchase was a 1GB SanDisk SD Card for the camera I am waiting for (just ordered a Canon Powershot S2 IS 5 MegaPixel Camera, with nifty 12x Optical Zoom - camera not off eBay tho)

Hey Boyd, I got my Canon Powershot S2 IS and a 2GB Sandisk Ultra II SD card on Friday! Damn, I had to wait in a big queue to get that damn camera. Now I need a bloody camera case to keep it cosy. Really nice camera with ultra fast and quiet zoom. Lowlight performance could be better, but it takes stunning photos, much better than my old Panasonic FZ10 used to manage!

I got mine from the same palce for $679, but it took so long for Canon to supply them, the price dropped while I waited. I did hit them up for the discount or some freebies, but it was no good...

I find Canon's IS is nowhere near as good as the Panasonics. The Panasonic has better focusing (even in lowlight) though. But the Canon image quality kicks the Panasonic from here to India...

Bought a Duracell AA/AAA battery charger off eBay, brand new, $20 inc 2 batteries. Since I've got a heap of the rechargables for my camera and wireless keyboard & mouse, I thought that wasn't too bad an investment.

Crest have a case that fits perfectly... not enough padding - since the S1 is the same body as the S2....

Yeah, I want a bag for the camera that has plenty of padding. Want to protect my investment. harvey Norman had a couple there I was looking at with soft padding on the inside, but will check them out in more detail when my camera arrives.

The SD card came today though

To my surprise Harvey Norman have some good bags for cameras and computers. But it's probably worth looking at a camera store first, if not just to explore a greater range of options, that you can then turn around and find cheaper elsewhere...
Scott (Melbastina) works at a camera store and might be able to advise us on some camera bags suitable for the S1/S2?

Yeah, bags....

Very personal thing, just be sure to check all the obvious stuff like how well does it seal, how solid is the case, are there any straps/buckles/zips that will damage you camera or pull switches when you put the camera in and out (good way to flatten batteries/damage zooms), fabric quality and so on....

As has been said below Pelican are the ultimate answer protection wise, but can become kinda hefty....

Lowepro are another good one, people say they're not worth the money, and you pay for the brand, but once you have owned a few cheap bags you will see why they do certain things and will appreciate their bags a whole lot more. I literally had one float down a river, it kept my expensive camera and two lenses bone dry, I always buy and recommend them.

It's worth noting that a lot of sales guys will give you the pitch about this bag has a warranty blah blah blah, but that warranty is no good if your out in the rain when the bag fails...
