Microsoft Scam

Hi guys just letting you know,
i received a call from a lady claiming to be from microsoft (LOL) server and that my computer is being hacked!!! OH NO hahaha
after i got the info from her i told her to go duck her self there
basically she said to got to
www.ammyy.com
and download something for remote access (HAHAHA)
apart from the fact that microsoft HAS a remote access server for troubleshooting through their own website, they never, EVER give ANY human/operator troubleshooting for free, let alone call you.
so be warned people, if you received the call and listened to them and followed their instructions, i would recomeend that you IMMIDIATLY turn off your wireless/unplug your LAN/ethernet plug, buy Maleware Antibytes (as it is the best, or you can get some of the great free ones), uninstall AMMYY admin software from your computer and then run the software to get rid of all/most of the viruses and trojans.
I would personaly be reformating my PC, but thats just paranoid old me

Cheers
Tony

They rang me months ago. I told them that I could claim their fees on tax only if I had their ABN and wasn't going to continue until I had it.

I get a phone call from someone different every 3-4 days, I string them long enough that they end up hanging up

I work in a retail PC shop and hear this almost every day happening to customers, way too many have actually paid, and yes these calls claiming to be from Micro$oft are a scam.
I have had them call me many times at work, I have alot of fun stringing them along, some even quote Microsofts ABN and address as well.
However Ammyy admin is a program that is 100% legit, but it is being used by these indian call centres to easily gain remote access to your PC.
I use the program alot to help out customers because its so easy to use and allows me to easily over the telephone help my customers at home with their mostly stupid problems, .

Yeah my house gets phoned at least 3 times a week often multiple times a night saying the same thing. if i get them on the phone now i just put them on speaker phone and say hold on turning computer on now and then yeah just waiting for internet to dialup. Waste there time.

My dad strings them a long to asking them what computer then goes i dont see any start button etc.

Hate them muchly.

Yeah I'm not registered for that, BUT since this is a scam from "northern Victoria security center" who do you complain about?

Call the call centre and tell them who/ what's happening. They will. Figure it out after a few hundred people complain.

Do not call register only applies to Australian companies not o/s call centres.

We had another victim of this scam come in today.
Its been on the TV and in the news a few times.
They stupidly paid $179 for the service that was provided by the caller
And now they are up for a format and reinstall to remove any trace of what they did.
And lost time changing passwords credit cards etc as they had them all saved in a word document on their desktop.

Is this the same mob that then install keylogger or something onto the computer to get bank details etc. Or was that a different one?

TBH half the time I dont look to see what they did, I just back up their data and reinstall.
Normally they install a keylogger and run msconfig and defrag the hard drive and run windows update!!
