BG Back Bumper Bar Gap
Hey fellow astinatarians.
Anybody else have the problem with the BGs back bumper bar? it has a rather large (can fit a whole finger in) gap between the actual bumper, and that thin piece of body that runs either under the rear lights. it looks ugly, and i have 3 weeks holidays after this friday (cheerin) and would like to try and fix it.. anybody have any ideas?? and how is the back bumper removed? ive tried taking out every single bolt i could see.. and it was still somewhat stuck.. any help would be appreciated! Thanks! |

i know what your talkin about n i have no idea
im guessing youll have to take the whole thing off n push it up when its screwed back on ive noticed that doing that to my car will have no affect on the gap beacuse my bit of thebumper has saged in the middle over time its not heaps big either maybe 1 cm at the absolute most |

from the sounds of it has your car been hit in the rear end at all???
if so might be the brackets are bent or somethin along the lines of that...

Nah, not to my knowledge, everything looks normal.. ive noticed it on ALOT of bgs though, so im hoping someone here has had the same problem and fixed it. I dont think it has anything to do with how its screwed on though, as there arent any screws near the area, so its like the bumper has sagged, like you said. i will try and get a photo..

your bumper must have been removed at some stage for painting....that would explain why theres a big gap! most panel beaters dont really do it with care and hence the big gap. youll probably have to heat the bumper and push it up.
or there is a possibility that the car has been hit in the back...its hard to tell sometimes... |

ok, so if i try to remove it, heat it up, then clamp it straight and leave for a bit, it should be straight again?
Thanks. |

If you remove the bolts inside the boot that hold the bumper on, then try hitting the boot floor up slightly with a heavy hammer. Or bend it up slightly.
Or you could elongate the holes that the bumper bolts fit through, giving you some adjustment. |

hey I am currently sanding down my astina start painting in approx a week.. I HAVE THE SOLUTION TO UR PROBLEMS
if the thickness of that line is slightly uneven, i guarentee that it is not the enourmous bolts that hold the whole rear bar up, ur problem lies with a tiny (piss-weak) phillips screw on each side above the centre of ur rear wheel (facing upwards! the screw has a washer that easily shakes loose and barely holds up the lip of ur bumper >>unscrew it, replace original washer with a slightly wider one, u have about 2mm's to play with, replace the screw (do not over tighten!!!) |
