My BA Astina
Hey guys im new to this forum, I brought this car the other night. Its a 1995 model BA hatch. It has high kms (375000) but runs and drives near on perfect. I is lowered on pedders springs and is a 1.8 4cyl. I love driving it but it needs a few things. The roof is faded, gaurd is dented, front bar is cracked and front seats are worn.. The day after i got it home me and my old man went up to autobarn and brought some megs polish and i washed her then gave her a good polish, vaccum and a full clean out. It came up 100% better and im happy with it. The clutch is a bit worn but i want to get a HD one fitted. It needs a service and was just wanting opinions on what oil to put in.. I paid a small 1025 bucks for her with 2 months rego. But i dont have a job atm and still need to get it rwc. But i have nearly 2 years as i only just got my leaners 1 month ago..
Im open to positive and negitive info/advice on the car as i want to do it up.. Thanks guys, JOSH Last edited by astina-95; 08-01-2010 at 11:46 PM. Reason: add pics |

The damage is pretty easy to fix by replacing the front bumper and front quarter panel which are easily purchased from your local wrecker. Also highly recommend getting some rims as the stock steelies are a disgrace. On the oil front I would recommend something like a 25W50 for something with that many k's. Cheers and welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forums and good job on choosing an awesome car although the seats are torn, you can either buy 2nd hand ones etc or just cover them with seat covers (probably the easier option for now) however the car looks in pretty good niche for the amount of k's its done. I wish you all the best to you and your new car have fun and drive safely

yes and no. took me around 3hrs to do mine... well more like 3 days becuase i got the wrong one originally!
you WILL need: 1. a good rattlegun (400ft/lb at least) 2. a decent compressor. 3. impact socket set. 4. 10,12,14 and 17mm (from memory) ring spanners. (recently got a set from repco which have a ratchet in them (lifetime garentuee too) -screwdrivers -whiteout or similar to mark (or help mark) timing positions on the belt... btw make sure its on the intake stroke (cylinder 1 TDC) and that way when reassembling it) - new timing belt + tensioners etc (kit) approx $200 would also be a good install at the same time. my pump cost $130 from supercheap. - somewhere to drain the coolant+ new stuff to replace old stuff preferrably a workshop manual - can scan if you need - an entire day without a car a good cold beer to finish up with... first take off accessories belts... so far so easy. take rocker cover off (also need gasket goo or similar to replace), sparkplug leads, timing belt cover, timing belt and tensioners/rollers. YOU WILL NEED THE RATTLE GUN for this... unless someone else knows a better way :P... take off waterpump - spending an hr trying to get it out once unbolted. then install new gaskets to new waterpump, spend another hr forcing it in and replace in opposite order i didnt find it as difficult as somepeople said, but in saying that after the ordeal of swapping the motor and whatnot it may be annoying for most! all i can say is have ALL the tools + more and parts BEFORE you begin good luck and half the fun is doing it yourself!!!
