You'll need an adapter to change the square end of the AFM to a circle so a pod can be fitted. Sadly, mine came with one and I'm not sure what Mazdas had the same AFM so you can go find one. Probably NA MX-5s, but someone will have to confirm.

Once you have that you can put a pod straight on it. Or you can do what I did. Remove the whole air box and there will be a nice big space underneath it. Take the front bar off and get a 4" hole saw and put a big hole through the metal like so.

Then get a 90 degree silicon bend and drop the pod down into the chassis in front of that big hole. Put some moulding or paint the hole edges so it doesn't rust and put the front bar back on. Air gets to that hole very easily with a stock front bar. And it looks like this from the top.

Yes and no. I'd be more worried about the illegal hole you just cut haha. It's ok if there is a solid bracket holding it in place. Down there its invisible and if you want paint it to make it look stockish.

As long as what the pod mounts to is fixed, like the AFM, it should be legal. I've got a hidden support under my AFM that you have to feel to know its there, so I'm pretty sure I am legal.

Also you can't see that hole unless you're lying down in front of the car. And you'd have to be on a weird angle to see it from the engine bay. S'all good.
