got another random Q.
just wondering if L plate drivers can go on a track day of some sort?
and if they can, do you need an instructor or a passenger who has their racing license?
cheers

you will need a motorsport and civil license. so correct me if i'm worng, but a learners permit is a civil license?

if not then non speed events like motorkhanas you'll be able to enter. motorkhanas and non speed licenses are open to 12year old and older.

No. Whitewalling looks good on old school style wheels/cars with a decent sidewall height. I think it'd just look weird on low profile tyres on a modern car

Also guys, what's with the BOV position with my car? (see SIG pic!) I don't think it's working properly. It releases the air but very lazily. I mean not the sfittt sound I'm used to hearing but, bloooooorrrrr sound. I have read similar sound from BOV set ups. Can I have comments as to suggestion cause mech wonders how it is working too? Appreciate replies. Is mech worrying me for nothing?

Incidently, the vacuum line runs from BOV to the IM (right side). I'll put a pic up soon as

No worries,
i emailed Cams last night and got my reply this morning,
here is what it said if anyone is interested:
Quote:
At age 16 you can obtain a Level 2 Speed (L2S) licence or a Circuit Racing Licence (PCC or PC).

The L2S will allow you to compete in sprints, hillclimbs, regularity, autocross, khanacross, touring road events, motorkhanas and drifting. The PCC will allow you to compete in State level circuit racing, historic racing and all the events listed for L2S. The PC will allow you to compete in National level circuit racing and historic and L2S.

There are no special requirements to obtaining a L2S licence except be a member of a CAMS Affiliated car club fill out the applicable form and pay the required fee.

To obtain the circuit racing licences you will need to be a member of a CAMS Affiliated car club, fill out the applicable form, have a medical done by a CAMS Medical Examiner, provide us with a photo of yourself and pay the required fee. Once we have received all of those items you will then need to do a lecture, normally on-line and a observed licence test, when completed you are then issued with your licence once we receive notification of passing the tests.

Hope this helps.

Regards

my guess is that it either is NOT a DOHC like the colourfull IM suggest OR it only has one pulley and it is geared internally to 2 cams (kinda like vtec has 4 cams but 2 pulleys sort of thing..)
thats only my guess but

my guess is it is a single overhead camshaft engine.
just because mazda 16V engines are dohc, doesn't mean other manufacturers are the same.

well it sais its DOHC, the cam gear is to the side of the head, and the sparkplugs are down the middle, whereas most SOHC engines iv seen the plugs are on the side of the head, usualy near to the exhaust ports as the injectors ocupie the other side.
most iv seen on a SOHC 4cyl is 12 valves, and that camshaft was way to crammed

haha true, i didn't even look. the 2nd cams is probably driven by a chain linking the 2 cams inside/under the rocker cover.

or it's using a dohc intake manifold, as it may have better flow properties compared to the sohc version?

dunno, whomever post the pic should give us a link to where the pic was from. might explain a few things more.

guys, a closer look identifies it's a SOHC engine, just like the B6 non-turbo. You've only got to look at width of tappet cover. I shoulda picked that up b4 but, the IM through me off. Bloody Splitter whoever put that pic up! Sorry but it really had me going from the cam gear, know what I mean?

Nope, it's a DOHC 16V as it says - a VW Golf engine. Chain-driven at the other end.
