SP20 Members With CX7 Wheels

Hey all,

Any members here running the cx7 wheels on the sp20 ?

My question is, do you getting a lot of rubbing ? I've lowered my car with Pedders springs (not super low) and I just lowered the rears to try out and rub pretty bad on bumps, humps.

I know some members here lowered there cars with springs (not coilovers) with these wheels, just want to know is it normal ? Or maybe I did something wrong but doubt it.

Its all down to the tyre profile

You need to run 215 35 R18
Anything bigger will rub with out rolled guards,

And make sure your shocks arn’t shot!!

My tyres are 215/40-18 and guards rolled but it's rubbing on the inside top arch/well (dunno the correct name) not touching guards.

Because some run with 19s and 20s and apparently doesn't rub, I dunno how but if that's true then my tyre size should be okay because my diameter of wheel and tyre would be smaller.

My shocks are pretty good, not old.

So dunno. I don't wanna go 17" if I have the 18"s and don't wanna go lower than 18".

The tyres are 20mm wider and 30mm bigger diameter than stock tyres.

Would've only been 10mm more diameter if you used 215/35R18s.

I fully understand its about 30mm bigger overall but when people put 19s and 20s even with low profile it will be bigger then 30mm if its true that they get no rubbing that is.

But 15mm higher from top didnt think it'll be that bad. My BA Astina had 19s at one stage and pretty sure 40profile and no rubbing at all even no guard roll and diameter I think was 30mm++

Mightconsider 17s now and dont want to and dont want to buy new tyres because the 215/40-18 tyres I brought new.

There is a lot more factors than just tyre diameter. Wheel offset and suspension ride height also factor into whether a tyre will rub or not.

I know but since the cx7 wheels are not bad in width and offset would have thought 215/40-18 should be fine especially when my car is normal lowered (1.5inch lowered not super low coils) and shock are in good condition.

Nothing I can do now only maybe look for other wheels just disappointing because of the purchase of new tyres.

I'll see what I'm ganna do.

They're a 7.5 +50, right?

Needs a spacer to make it closer to +40 or even +35.

Correct.

But problem is the outside edge of tyre is rubbing on top inside well, if I put a spacer won't that make it worse or same ? Because the edge towards strut/shock is fine and cleared and not rubbing that side, it's the one closer to the guard, so a spacer would make it stick out more. Plus I don't like to use spacer if I use the car with kids in it, I mean it'll probably be fine but I feel uncomfortable.

I know this might sound stupid but I lowered the back only and left the front standard height springs, would that play a part on anything maybe ? I've lowered the fronts last week yet to try the wheels with front and rear lowered.

And I just picked up a set of 17" Mazda 6 wheels, might put some 215/40 pr 205/40, either one I put it should equal out pretty much the diameter of the standard 16" wheels and tyres so I should have no headaches.

Yeah rear guards are rolled, but not actually touching guards at all, and even was cleared before rolling with the 18s because you can see the marks inside well we're it's rubbing.
