Tranmission Fluid for FWD w/ LSD Gearbox?

What is good fluid to use in a fwd w/ clutch plate lsd gearbox?

Used previously a 33/66 blend of lsd/transmission oil. But unknown what those oils were.

Once when a blend of 50/50 was in. Cold changing was terrible, and changing from 1-2-3 was impossible if didn't double clutch and shift into neutral first.

Do I buy just a regular transmission oil and add a LSD additive to it?

Redline Shockproof [even lightweight] is the worst tranny fluid you can get if you're chasing better shifts.
I use Castrol VMX80 in the Nissan, but it has VLSD and not clutch pack type, but shifts are great!
I won't be using Redline in the Ford again, and will most likely switch to VMX80 in it too.

I think the real question should be WHAT gearbox is this.
obviously a combined transmission, but is it a mazda or a toyota ?

because you would normally work out what type of clutch pack or model of LSd is fitted from just that. Might help address the type of oil required.

In some cases of the combined type or transmission I know they have sometimes just noted gearbox oil ot be changed more regularly. like every 15,000km's Or if it's tracked again shorter. It might of been a Porsche boxter or similar I remember such a requirment.

viscous LSDs don't need anything special, just like mechanical (torsen/helical) LSDs

he has a clutch type LSD, which does need special LSD oil

I'm heading towards 75W90 GL5. Lots of helpful stuff using google. Honda peeps seem to have much experience with these LSDs.

why do you want GL5? it's corrosive to brass synchros and it'll make shifting rubbish!

So I just read. Not yellow metal friendly. Stratch that idea. Alot of talk of using regular oil and adding a fiction modifier until the clapping stops.

Well that was what I was hoping for with this thread. Find the specific/generics and the modify from there.

Might just have to waste a few bottle of different Tranny+Diff oils to find out what will be best.

Yes some people have toyota box's and different types of Gearbox's fitted.

I don't know if he has a F -a G or even a H box ?

Now I know it's a F-box the only one I can remember making a clutch type were mazdaspeed for that box.
but it was not a full fibre face type. I don't even think it required a specialized oil just wide brand oil. Or just what the G-series box in the MSP had or used.

I can't think of any other Diff maker making a LSD- or clutch/friction type for a F-box. Most were gear/torsen or even Viscous type.

I would also look at honda box as they do have many options for such a Diff. I understand for them getting oil to allow for quick shifts is a different problem.

I notice some people don't like the Redline. I've had a Mixed lot with them oils. One one box it was swift and quick but when it shattered 3rd well it was over for that oil.
But on another box - same model and spec, it just didn't like it. It like well because I had the pressure plate fail. I just refilled to clean it out a bit with Dexron3 and was fine untill I drove it on long distance. So I used some Castrol but was ****-house cold.I then Grabbed what the Pulsar guys use on PGA. expensive but awsome.
