Question about Cop Cars...

Just a random question,

What does it mean when your driving passed a cop doing say a little over the speed limit, they are going the opposite way and they flash only their hazard lights at you? No sirens no lights just the indicators?

Probably just informing you they know you were above the speed limit to scare you. Don't worry about but it all depends on how much the little over the speed limit you were doing.

newer cop cars have a laidar that is connected to their speedo and reads out an actuall speed of whatever they point it at. so if ur going in the opposte direction n ur doing 70 and they r doing 50, the radar will pickup 120 but display 70 cus it will take their ecu speed readout in to account.
remember that cops are ppl doing their job. there are some nasty ones and there are some good ones and there are mainly normal ones. u might have ran into some good ones. if they were nasty traffic cops they might have pulled u over and went thru ur car like it was at scruteneering. if lets say ur front strut tops had the rubber cracked u might have lost ur car (same as bold tyres pretty much major fault)

I got pulled up twice last Friday night. The first time the guy did the RBT and then wanted to give me a community announcement, but I told him I wasn't interested and wanted to get on my way.

The second time, 2 cops approached me. The guy was going around my car with the torch looking in the boot [I had the seats forward and the cargo cover out, strut brace on display much? ] and looking at my rego sticker. While the girl was looking up my licence details. She was a bit bitchy, but not too bad. The guy was just freaked out to see a 3dr JN15 Pulsar. I chatted to them briefly before thinking how loud my exhaust sounds when driving off.

Anyhoo, I've had the highbeam flash a couple of times too.

Gav.

yer, i dont have a problem with cops stoping you and just doing a licence check and RBT. i know a bodykit and P plates are the main cause of this. But wen they just pull you over to defect you (even if u wernt speeding or anthing) that starts to piss me off. "dont worry about the rapes or bashing that are happening this guys car is to low" attitude annoys me.
(saying this about 90% of the cops that have pulled me over have been nice guys)

I've had a couple of dodgey cops. There always are going to be some who make it their mission to make you miserable.

traffic cops are the ones that usually give defects, do rbt etc. the ones lookng after bashings, rapes etc will not pull ppl over while driving to the job unless u r really doing something illegal, because they are not assigned for traffic in that period, they just have to use the rd to get from a to b

I highly doubt this statement. Police can pull anybody over regardless of their postings of the day.

As a member said earlier, all they did was flash lights as quick friendly reminder to hush on speed.

I remember i drove out of a property into a main road whilst almost dark, as i drove on, i got the flash aswell by oncoming police, then i realised i didnt put the HL on. They do it just to let you know.
