Too good to be true?
I found a 1997 Astina online (Allclassifieds) that is based in my local area. It has only 159,000km, has a manual transmission, and the 1.8L engine, but the biggest shock to me is the fact that the seller is only asking for $3500.
Is this price too low for one of these? Redbook says yes (value between $3700-$5300), but Glass's says no (value between $3150-$3850). Could someone tell me if this is a good buy? Or would it be remotely possible to bargain the car down further? I will try to have a look tomorrow afternoon (and maybe test it out). Thank You! Cheapskate. PS: The car is here, no pictures though - http://tinyurl.com/yewx9vf

never hurt to check it out.
its not that much below the reccomended price. check the engine for oil leaks, body work and sighs of repaints.

It turns out that I was right to be wary. It seemed to be sold by one of those "backyard dealers" (about 10-15 cars in their driveway). It also had a terrible dent in front of one of the wheel arches, it had peeled paint, and it was even burning oil.
I guess it's back to the search again. Should I post a WTB ad on these forums?

So? Offer the seller $2500. Spend $2000 on the motor and $1000 on the outside.
$5500 for a Astina with 159,000km on it and newly rebuild engine and resprayed paint. Deal... |

Also selling a blue hardtop: 1997, the 1.8L 4 cyl engine, resprayed about 2 months ago, aftermarket headunit, 14inch mag wheels (I think that's what they're called?), 180000kms.
