Enkei RPF1
I coundn't justify the cost of my dream wheels(Rays TE37 15x7), so I settled for a set of Enkei RPF1 15x7 +41 with Bridgestone RE001 205/50 R15 on my BJII J48 Astina 1.8. Plenty of strut clearance, seems to just barely fit without rubbing the rear fender, although no heavy loads carried yet and I don't know how far it compresses when cornering.
Had them imported by Goodwin racing in U.S. for about $300AUD each shipped. They weigh 4.2kg each on my bathroom scales, 2kg lighter than the stock 14x6 alloys. Total weight with tyres is the same as the 14x6 with 195/60 R14 GIII (about 14kg I just forgot exactly how much). Sure I could have saved a kg each with the Rays, but that would have cost another grand or so! Enkei doesn't make centercaps for the 15, so I used Konig Helium caps and used acetone to get rid of the black "KONIG". [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Last edited by Sleepy Gonzalez; 20-10-2008 at 09:39 AM. are they the 5 spoke ones?
i tried getting them on mine but in 18" they are 600 each... way too pricey for something that, knowing my luck, id put into a gutter the first day! lol

they are a 12 spoke rim. and they are hot.
as for centre caps, they are a waste of time. would look better without. how come you didn't get the +35mm ones? Last edited by project.r.racing; 12-08-2008 at 06:09 PM. |

Congrats! Love those wheels. I've wanted a set in '"winning gold" for my blue Neo since I got the car. Can't wait to see pics.

Same overall weight, same overall diameter, same acceleration, when compared to the stock 14' alloys with 195/60. Well actually, the tyres might have a bit more traction for the standing start, but I haven't measured any changes.
The +41 is the same wheel with 6mm shaved off the mounting pad, so it's lighter. But the main concern was the fender clearance, it appears to only just fit with the +41. I couldn't find any RPF1s on this model car, so lots of careful measuring was done prior to puchase. Centercaps hide my ugly hubs, and the Heliums match the wheels nicely. I'm glad I got 15s too, they may not be the current fashion of "a strap of liqorice round a wagon wheel", but they are lighter, cheaper and more suitable for lots of wet season night driving on the 2nd worst highway in queensland! Got some pictures. Note that the advertising pictures of the RPF1 appears to be of 8.5 or 9 inch wide rims, which have a better dished look with straight spokes, instead of the curved ones on these smaller wheels when viewed from the front or rear of the car.

Hotness!!! Looks great, and sits very wide in the arches.
What tyres you got? They look stretched on the rim? |

Bridgestone RE001 Adrenalins 205/50 R15. Definately more dry cornering grip than the GIII 195/60 R14, but I'm sick of the howling on corners. I'll be looking for tyres that don't squeel too much on the limit. I've heard the Falken RT615 lets go quietly, any other ideas? Not being able to rotate side to side is a problem because the left side will need to be replaced well before the right due to the roundabouts here. Speaking of which, some more camber and that suspension upgrade I'm saving for might help.
