well im opening my door up as soon as i finish typing this... hoepfully i dont make a mess of it and it fits back together before dark. need to see what i have to "invent" and how hard it will be to do on the weekend. really want new tinting!

ok so in the dark ive torn the doorcard off, removed window button and replaced it so i can make the window rattle and shake at my leisure...

what i found... lots of bits of rubber/plastic/grease which used to be doing something... one roller is 1/2 there, and the other is just a bare metal bit... the stops are just metal and the rubber has fallen off them to... the window winder/motor are still good though. it will be a bitch of a job to replace everything once ive taken it out but ill tackle it on the weekend... at least to umm and arr about what i can do. i dont think epoxy/resin will work as it will shatter/crack. need rubber ideally

will try experimenting though! keep you guys posted and hopefully ill get soemthing together which will inspire others to fix theirs and come up with a better solutioon ultimately.

How big is the rubber part that's needs in diameter? Perhaps a 1/16 rc wheel will fit?? I'm serius!!

haha itd be more like a 1/32 tony. but nice idea! concentrating on installing my new radiator tomorrow, removed some stuff tonight but after getting home from work after 730 (15hrs!) IM TOO TIRED! so thatll be happening tomorrow morning i suspect.

thought of a nice idea for an air intake too...

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!

io now have a window held up with gaffa tape which im hoping will last 20hrs and not get broken into overnight/while at work... but there is some good news. pics for detail. basically i went to clark rubber got some 4.5mmx50mmx1000mm and went to work. all was going quite well considering i was trying to sand a perfectly round circle then drill a hole in the exact centre with nothing more than a weak cordless drill, some drill bits, a piece of sand paper, some special superglue?, calipers and grease + degreaser...

the last few are the result of no time left and a bloody big mess to somehow fix (have to visit the wreckers to get a new window assy, as my wire is now screwed...

btw if you want clearer pics let me know and ill try again with my phone (but i thought they came out well for something which was never really designed for taking decent pictures!)

how much did it all cost?
Is it running well now? no rattle when it goes up and down?

Mine seriously rattles...i can't have the passanger window down unless its ALL the way down, or all the way up - or else it just wobbles like a fat kid on DDR...

yeah its ok. better than it was, but still not perfect. it cost all of $7.80 for the rubber, most of which i didnt use and $10 for that USELESS sellys rubbish. and $45 for the part which was broken from the wreckers. lots of "bonding" time with the girlfriend ... pun intended!...

woudl be a hell of a lot easier with the right thickness of rubber but superglue worked well. best thing is they dont rattle when not up the full way... still wobbly/uneven going up or down but silent!

this what i did

while I was trying to screw that "orange" wheel back to it's place, I have found out that the second wheel had been broken already and it's pieces were all over in the rail.

unfortunately it seems, that black wheel is a "build-in" part of the window mechanisim which welded to the runing plate of the mechanisim.

after a long long thinking I have decided to duplicate the broken wheel, I did it from a drill handle! It took some time till the cuting and polishing process was over...then I took a cutting disc and cut the base of the nail which was welded to the runing plate of the mechanisim.
the new wheel came in and the nail of the plate have been welded back to it's place.

i like it! i got over that problem by just forcing it onto the cone shaped edge and has held well.

well that is awesome. saves me pulling apart a perfectly good wondow to measure it all up. which is why i have put this off for such a long time.

thread revival!

So my windows have gotten to the "beyond" rediculous stage"... where i now get air leakage when driving 80km/hr+ in the top right of the drivers side. SO ANNOYING! Just a constant wind/whistle noise....and i drive on the highway every day for uni. Bleh.

Anyone found a place that will make these? Or even found some premade stuff that can be bought... Really doubt i'll be able to make these myself. And i need all 4 windows fixed :|

Next problem... how can I get at the tracks, if i have sound deadening on my doors, haha. Uh, oh :|
