Misfiring again

The astina is misfiring again, same as last time; i'm wondering what could cause it to chew up spark plugs so quick, only 1000k's..
It's not pinging, and the plugs look fine.

I don't wanna spend 80 bucks on better plugs if it's just going to wreck em.. Anyone have any ideas?

Is it really your plugs? If so it could oil creeping past the rings and fouling the plugs.

The ones i took out last week were old, but looked fine, and changing the plugs changed it from nearly to the point of not running at all, to perfect, not missing a beat.
The symptoms this time are identical to last time, starting off missing a bit at idle in drive with the air-con on after a long drive..
I'll take the new plugs out and see if there's anything to see..

Here's a pic of a plug.. the black stuff is just carbon..
It wouldn't have anything to do with the E10 fuel I've been running would it?

HOLY **** WHITE PLUG MUCH haha, most likley the car is running lean ? and or like i said wrong temp for your car. id take it to a mate thats good with cars an ask him to play with the timing. is your car a 4 or 6 ??

ps DONT run e10 go cheapest unleaded you can find before u resort to that crap, also try puttin 98 in it now an see if that fixes your problem before you go playing with timing.

the plug is much too clean to be running lean... lean you will see white ash deposits, when all you see on this plug is the porcelain insulator

the plug looks fine to me... the heat range is also fine when running with E10, but not hot enough for pure petrol in some cases... all mazdas since the 90s are rated to run on E10, and with BJs, the fuel system parts themselves can survive up to E20 although the ECU most likely won't be able to compensate unless a Brazilian ECU is used

anyway, I'm really thinking it could be a weak coil or bad leads

ok well if you think the plug is just new fair enough, but dont use e10 unleaded is what these cars are ment to be using an e10 is bad for your engine

My god you've been running E10 :O I'm surprised your hair hasn't fallen out and your dog run away!!! Don't worry about E10.
Check the condition of your distributor cap and rotor button.

I changed the leads, and teh coil etc last time.. it was the plugs that fixed it, I was getting a weak spark on all 4 (out of the engine)..
I'm pretty sure it is spark plugs again, I just don't know why they've gone bad so quickly..
Would it be possible it's getting to hot and burning them out? and if so would a different heat range of plug help this at all?

Can you post a link to the old thread. You've missed something.

Found it... now more confused.

Please list the items you have replaced so we are all on the same page.

^ this was the first post.

Where I'm at at the moment is I know the misfiring is caused by the spark plugs, I'm just a bit stumped on why it is destroying spark plugs so quickly as they only lasted a week.

I'm thinking now I might try a set at a higher temp range, 7 or 8.. It is just strange that it should need this as the motor is stock.

My thought with the E10 fuel is that maybe ethanol burns at a higher temperature? i'm not sure, but if that's true it could contribute to overheating the plugs.

I know it looks like I'm being a pain in the ass but you have missed something and if you don't go over the basics again and again you could spend hundreds chasing sonething that could be very simple.

Dizzy cap and button/rotor if you haven't done it
Pretty sure it's the cheapest thing (~20?)
I have had a problem before and changing the cap/rotor fixed it. But my issue was the age of te rotor, i have no idea how it didn't disintegrate lol wish I took photos
And E10 is fine
Also when you change the ignition module, did you set the timing bak properly?

I haven't checked the timing yet, I've got to fix my timing light first.. What should it be set to on the BP, 10 btc?
My dizzy cap and rotor button look brand new, i can clearly see there are no cracks or anything. And I did check the price on these parts at super cheap and they weren't cheap..
I just picked up some bosch plugs with heat range of 7, and a smaller gap for some reason? will see how it goes..

you made a mistake of even getting bosch spark plugs.... they give terrible results on any japanese cars.... stick to NGK or denso!!! Too many people had issues with Bosch, they work fine on German cars only, so don't waste your money on them!
