Auto Trans Adjustments

My auto has harsh gear changes. Are there any adjustments that can be done? Am going to change the fluid on it so is there anything that needs to be done while the pan's off?

I'm not sure about adjustments, mine needed a good flushing out, it was doing the same thing. Because of blockages the pressure builds up and causes hard gear changes.

Thnx for the response. Flushing out? Am getting a pan gasket which, I assume comes with a filter, but how does one go about flushing out an auto trans?

Just empty what you can, measure what was taken out and replace. Repeat several times, with a week + inbetween.

before you do any of that, check the kick down cable adjustment at the throttlebody... if it is set too tight, it will cause harsh shifting!

Next step... as mentioned above... adjust the cable (at the plenum)... a couple of threads at a time and test drive.
