BG - rear wheel bearing replacment

hi guys,
i`m gonna need a rear wheel bearing soon, has anyone done this job?
i`ve been told that you have to buy the hub and bearing as an assembly,
is this true?
if thats the case then i can`t wait to find out the price!!!
thanks in advance for any info/advice

Mal just had his front bearing replaced and it didnt require a new hub. Dare say the rear would be no different.

Ive done a rear wheel bearing on the laser...They should be the same. I used a bearing out of a drum brake assy i had spare from the disk conversion.

Still going good.

the wheel bearings worn. i noticed it when i done my rear brake pads.
when you spin the wheel it should be quiet but if the bearings worn you get a rumbling sound. if its bad enough you can hear the noise getting louder as you pick up speed when driving. its like a humming noise. sometimes you won`t notice it coz the bearing wears gradually. repacking them with grease doesn`t really make a difference. i would expect a bearing to last at least 80000 miles. my cars done 108000! not bad if thats an original bearing!
