The Random Parts Thread!

With so much stuff on offer... see here... I thought I'd start this thread for all those little bits and pieces that don't deserve their own thread, but that still get ripped off in price at your local [insert parts place here]...

Stuff like plugs, filters, gaskets, bearings, water pumps, ignition leads etc. etc. If you're doing a service and wanna save a few bucks, let us know what you're after, and we'll price all the little bits and pieces together...

Yep, need to know whether it's got ABS or not, and if so, what the chassis number is... Should be either more or less than 151007.

Not for that, I'd just be getting a machine shop to lighten it and balance it.

Youll find Astro will only really recommend DMS as a solution or a good set of springs and while D2 and ksport arnt quality they will lower your car quite nicely.

@Astro something thats easily ajusted would be best. IMO something with notchable ajustment Hes mainly after the slam look as opposed to fantastic spring rates e.t.c

Spot on!!!

If you can't afford DMS, don't bother getting coilovers...

Get yourself a nice set of Koni Yellows and Eibach springs, and enjoy FAR better quality, ride and handling... (Although possibly less macca's cred...)

As I recently said on the Opel Aus Forum:
Quote:
Coil overs are no different to normal struts. In fact last time I checked both the Astra and the Vectra come with 'coilovers' in the front as standard.*

The only reason that you hear about chinese coilovers leaking is that people fail to realise that a front coilover that you buy on ebay for $300 each probably has a $20 damper insert, and the rest of the money is spent on springs, fancy colored anodised parts and adjustable platform seats...

And then they start crying that their full sik $20 damper starts leaking...
* For what it's worth, Astina's also come with 'coilovers' standard front and rear...

For a full set, with springs, about $3300ish...

What ever height you want. You can get it with what they come with, then adjust the height on the shock, or change the springs to suit what ever you want.

No Greg answered your question

You can use the springs that come with it, or change the spring rate to suit your application.

Oh ok... sorry my bad. I thought you meant the springs that come with the DMS. Well, it's sort of true also, if you got yourself a good set of shocks, you can always throw a coilover sleeve kit on it. Not the easiest thing to do, but at least it gives you the combo of being able to have a decent quality shocks, the choice of springs rates and ride height...

As for normal springs, if you've got Lovells low, then you can go superlow in Kings, $135 per pair front or rear... Lovells don't appear to do super's.

Eibach may do a kit, but I'd have to check with them on Monday.

Eibach+Ground Control do coilover sleave kits for standards struts. For the best results you would cut off your lower spring perches for rim/tyre clearance. This plus adjustable strut tops give you what ppl commonly refer to as coilovers. Eibach supply the springs and Ground Control do the threaded sleaves and strut tops.
