Mazda 3 steering wheel on BA ?

Few weeks ago I drove friends Mazda3 for about 400km and loved the steering wheel. Comparing it to the one in my BA its smaller, feels nicer in hand...

So I was wondering is it possible to use M3 steering wheel on my BA ?
Maybe even from a BJ Sport20 ?

It will fit physically, but the airbag plugs are likely to be different/not compatible.

The only way you'd really be able to tell is if you have an accident!

Well if might be possible if you're good with wiring to swap plugs.

Current DY Demio/Mazda2 airbag module

BA/FD/NB Momo airbag module

NB MX5 Nardi wheel

Having said that, it may be possible to just swap your airbag module over into the new wheel, as they look to have the same shape mounting points. Hard to say when there's nothing to give scale.

those airbag modules have different mount points. the BA/MX5 ones are much larger with the plastic casing over the airbag unit.

it would be possible to swap the plugs. you'd want to have both wheels in front of you when you did it though. you do not want to wire horn to airbag by accident. honk BOOM

Please note my point about scale. If you look at the plugs, you'll see that if you take into account their size, then the module and attachment points seem to be similar. I'd bet the airbag module is identical in size though (if you look at the firts and last pics) So you could use the BA/MX5 plastic cover.

You're assuming the wiring and amount of wires is the same in the 10 years since the MX5/BA/RX7s were made though!

I spose you could swap out the airbag computer for the new one. If you play with fire, you may as well make it big

airbag modules themselves haven't changed much. the one in the brand new holden calais is the same as the 1998 one. judging by these pics, the amount of wiring etc is similar. anyone got any mazda 3 wiring diagrams? they may have the plug diagrams and i can compare it with the BA

^ and if you don't know the cops, just be sure you got enough to bribe them.

it is like that

if you don't know someone personally, you will know someone that they know, straight away you have a common ground

believe me man, i know how big it is, but bribe is another full proof method you can use when all else fails

haha deffinately. like around the farming areas, where my great grandma still lives, (lol shes 90), cops reguraly stop trucks going to the market, force a rbribe, then comeback when the market is over n force again. its corruption to the max, thats one of the reasons we moved. war was the other reason.
