I have made my own VICS controller and im using that to control the VICS until I can get this ECU sorted out.
I havent had much of a chance to drive it but the few times I did get the chance to floor it I have noticed that it as soon as it hits 5000 rpm and opens the shorter intake you can see, feel and hear it!!
Where as the old engine ran out of puff at about 6000 rpm this one wants to keep going past 6500.
Now to get the JDM ECU figured out so I can unleash the higher rev limit, you can feel it wants to keep going.
Im slowly translating the wiring diagram, its taking me ages with the translation engines online.
I think I might end up learning to read Japanese in the process.

Shouldn't it be closer to 115Kw?

Should be closer to 110 KW ATW but it was dynoed on a stuffy afternoon and is being massively strangled by the 1.8 ECU.

Yeah, there must be more in it yet, my 1.8 made 125whp on a Dyno Dynamics (with Twiggies etc).

If you've made your own VICS controller, you might be able to get rid of that dip at 5k. I never got around to it myself.

How are we coming along with this? What was involved in swapping out the 1.8L? Did everything match up correctly or did you have to mod things?

All is going well so far with the engine, so far I have done about 7000km since I got it.
My car is going in next week to the panel beaters and when I get it back I will get the FS-ZE ECU and loom swapped over.
As far as swapping the engine goes it was a bolt in fit, I re used my 1.8 flywheel, clutch and gearbox and engine mounts.
No modifications were required and as I reused the same mounts it was just a simple engine swap with qld transport and no mod plate required.
Compared to my old engine there is a lot more torque at low revs and its a lot more responsive throughout the rev range.
Its a lot more fun to drive and uses about the same amount of gas.

I will have to create a project worklog for my car one day, its now worthy of one.
I have front and rear autoexe sway bars and a 5 part under body bracing kit and some camber bolts to go with the autoexe front and rear strut braces I all ready have as well as replacing anything that looks worn while im there.
Im also going to get some slotted discs and upgraded pads to go with them.
After that I dont know whats next apart from the ECU swap which should be soon I hope.
