1st 2nd 3rd 4th rpm/speed 1.8 BA tech info needed ta'
Ok now that I've officially "run in" my 20yo Mazda I need some facts
Have been babying it through the gears ever increasing both revs & speed That is... Up until today So just before a 8klm mountain run here I gave the ol' gurl some stick ! It may not be the Nürburgring but it's a damn good workout So... In 1st it can go - 62kph @ 7200rpm - Usable up to around 54kph In 2nd - 103kph - No idea on revs - Usable up to around 96kph Can anyone do a cut n pasta on tech or provide a link ? Oh & btw - What is the "official" top speed listed for "Asty" ?

depending on which 96 model you have. you have max power at 6000 or 6500. so going to 7200 is a was of energy.
the tacho also is delayed by about 500 rpm from actual revs, so whenever you think you need to shift, do it 500 rpm earlier. from memory is was something like this:- 42, 90, 120, 160 speeds for gear changes. 3rd gear was always a pain on the track as it was so short. but great on the street for pulling away due to low ration. ive had the old N/A motor up to about 160 before but ran out of road (and oil lol)
the good ol' turbs ive had to 200 about 5.5kish on the tach and it stopped pulling about there (think it might be because the exhuast is WAYYYYY too small)
