So has anyone sticked with the seating position that Greg asked us to try out? I have (had to move the tilt 5cm up) and found that not only do I have better control of the car in normal driving conditions, but I aint getting bad back aches no more

I have moved the seating position back one notch from how he said and but left it the 10 cm further forward for the trip home.
I felt uncomfortable the way he said to sit. Does anyone else with a BJ drive with the seat raised up for a better driving position I find I can see about 3 m closer to the front. I'm looking down the bonnet rater than across I 'm not that tall though. |

I've been sitting like that since 2007. A different instructor got me do to it back then.

Makes a huge difference, went for a squirt down Mt Cootha yesterday, car handled great, but will make it better with a bigger rear sway bar & better tyres

I did the same as Phil and moved it back one notch - still about 3-4 notches forward of where I had it before. I think that I will get used to it
I have the height on my seat set to the lowest possible setting. Although I dont see any reason not to raise it up. I think that I have tried having the front higher than the back but it was too annoying. I will do some experimenting over the next few weeks to see what works.

__ To date the '2' hasn't failed to keep up with my BA on drifting :P Also Dean, your MX-5 looked awesome - first time i saw it - you go racer! Tune that suspension to drift glory! I've tried moving my seat forwards and closer to a right angle - as before it was tilted back. But really the BA seats are that low already! PS: Nerf causes sudden sideways action - fact. Cheers, Steve.

Basically yes, try it, before I was steering more with my shoulders, but with tilting the seat forward, it moves your upper body forward, and you can control the steering wheel with less hand movement

LOL @ Steve's attachment.
Greg didn't go through with lower body placement with you guys. There is a correct distance to set you lower seat rest from your pedals, then you adjust your back rest according to your reach. On my BA, I have the seat rest on the lowest height setting, and the back rest at 15-20 degrees. But I do change the distance from the pedal 2 notches forward depending on the footwear I am wearing. Thinner sole shoes (ie- my racing shoe) I need to be 1-2cm closer to the pedals. If anyone wants me to go through it sometime in a future AGT event, I am happy to do so. p.s. Glad you guys had a great day guys. |

oh ok i gotcha iv been taught to drive like that since b4 i had my p's the way i was taught is to have your seat so ur as upright as possible while stil comfertable and have distance adjusted so knees have a slight bend at full pedal extension. The wrists should be able to sit on the top of the steering wheel with a bend in the elbow while shoulders are flat, thats what i was taught its worked for me so far haha

i use to be bad for the 1 hand driving with my right arm stretched at 11 on the wheel, so this has worked in my favour
