Clutch sticking to the floor...

So I was just driving home from work today and as I pulled into my street and was changing gears the clutch has stuck to the floor. The only way i can get it back up is by pulling it back up. As a result, i pretty much can't drive it....

Does anyone have any idea what this would be and what has caused it?

How do i fix it and how much is this going to cost me??? Is this the sort of thing roadside assistance can fix because it is a weekend (lack of mechanics open) and i don't think i can drive it with this problem....?

My car is a 2002 sp20 by the way.

Thanks for any help.

sounds like it could be either the slave or master cylinder you can probs pick them up from the wreckers and try replace them yourself but if u aint sure might have to wait till you can get to a mechanic because i doubt roadside assistance can do anything?

Check the clutch flexible line under the air box ,they are known to blow on the bj.
Also check above the clutch pedal for wetness and pull the clutch slave cylinder boot back to see if any fluid in the boot.

Really? I just bought a new master and slave for less than $200 from repco. Took about 2hours to replace both as stuff kept leaking and couldn't get the air out of the lines. This was for a BA though. Oh, just saw cost of mechanic...

parts are nothing in most cases.
I did that whole job for $200- on a 626 - new master was $60 -slave $35 - hose from mazda (retail - i had in my collection - $85) now I did it myself but if it was at my labour rate another $150 on top from labour and add your mark up on price of parts it's about $15 or more on each. Those parts are wholesale cost in most cases.

this happened to me.
Driving to work and put clutch in to change gears then it didn't come out again.
it was the flexible hose under the air box.
was about 60 bucks to make a new. Fitted it and just bleed the system of air and was all good again.
Get someone to pump it a bit and watch if the fluid leaks from the flexible rubber line.
if it does then that may be all you need to fix.
Hope that helps.

Clutch just did the same thing and I came straight to AstinaGT for answers and found this thread. My 03 BJ Astina SP20 did have the exact same problem of the clutch line going and there was fluid everywhere under the air box. Took the old one out and getting a new one made tomorrow for around $50-60, hooking it up and bleeding the lines. Hope all goes well ☺

Buy a Braided clutch line if you are going to replace it.

I bought one yonks ago for a 2000 BJ as I think it is a common problem for this model/era... so I read if I remember correctly.
