Replace drivers window 96 astina hatch
the electric drivers window on my 323 hatch has bitten the dust. I pulled of the inner trim and had a look.
It seems both front and back connectors attaching the window to the frame assembly have either broken or come undone - I can't see any way (given my incredibly bad skill with tools) to re-attach them. This means the window comes up too high and gets caught in the rubber at the top - meaning every time I close the window I have to sit there and flick the switch to get it down far enough to open, yet not too far so it's lets water in Am i better off trying to just get a replacement door from a wrecker or something? The door trim, skin, mirrors, window motor etc all work well - it's just the frame attachments that are broken |

did you try to adjust the position of the glass? roll the window all the way up, loosen the two nuts holding the glass, then adjust its position
you might also want to loosen the nuts holding the window regulator a little then shifting it into the proper position if it still doesn't fix it, then it's possible that the cable guides or track in the window regulator are worn out or broken... in that case, you'll need to replace the window regulator

thanks for the quick reply - the bolts at either end of the glass (there are round holes in the glass) are broken at one end and the other end (front) seems to have just become unscrewed - I can't see any way to get a screwdriver or spanner in there & it doesn't appear that you can get the window and frame above the lip of the door to be able to access it
so I don't know if the frame is replaceable or if I'll need a whole new door |

It is replaceable. Do a search and you will fond a ton of info and pics I took a year ago. If you fish around in the bottom of the door there will be the bolt that is supposed to go in the front track, the bush will be non existant. I made some from poly bushes I had. I did this only a week ago again. The two mounts at the top of the frame are used to adjust the height. It took me close to an hour to get mine working perfectly again. No need for a new mech, and most will be in similar condition...

thanks Clean-Cookie -
I found the pics in this thread http://www.astinagt.com/forums/showt...=window&page=2 I will have to look into getting some bushes made (as all talk no action it seems with anyone actually producing them) My tools skills are pretty much no-existent so I think i will try the panel beater in town and see what they will charge |
