ahh its got the curved intake runners, that engine came from eunos 800 did it come with an air flow meter?? cos from this (http://www.geocities.com/viv95pgt/klze.html) site it says the KL's with a curved neck uses a MAF not a VAF, but i dont know which is better

Must be the 2.5L engine out of a Jap spec Eunos 800. Not the 800M

Interesting find!

Just to stipulate the queries, I dont hold any responsibility for the Dunnydoor, that pic was taken just after the car slipped off my mates mounting point even when I screamed for him to get his damn head out from under the bloody thing. Dam olden drivers cant even jack a car right .
He busted a rubber exhaust mount for those who give a damn...........

I have heard that the MAF is the best one to have but I have no knowledge on the topic. I am more than happy with the curved intake over the square as it seems like it has a much greater flow potential than the square (thats my visual assumption)
I too figure it was out of the Jap spec Eunos 800/Mazda Millenia which explains why it appears to be so young...pre 20-30k at my best guess. So I am a happy little vegemite.

I will be taking pics of the KF when it comes out but for now I dont think I can track down any pics of one from that angle.
That pic is definately not possible from in car ther is about 3 inches of room less the Power Steering hoses and engine mount
Mr MX6 has a spare KF-ZE at home you may be able to swing him a line and he may be able to sort a photo out for you.

The heads are different from the kf-kl.. but only internally.. (looks the same) you can swap the damaged oil pan for your KFZE one.. (or just bash it out)and lastly you will have no hood clearance problems..
And the maf/vaf is only relevant to the ecu that you use not the motor. .What are yo doing about the ecu/loom?

And I don’t want to rain on your parade.. but you had better check the numbers . .as the eunos 800 can have a ½ & ½ sort of ZE..
make sure the ...
1) HEADS: One should read KL31-101 and the other KL31-1A1
4) CAMS: Should read KL-31
5) PISTONS: Pull a spark plug and shine a light down in there to see the top of the piston.

And who wants a pic of what ?

I was looking at the nose on view of the KL-ZE and the inlet manifold didn't look too tall. From what I'd heard the Mx-6 KL-ZE manifold would foul the hood but as this is a Eunos engine it looked like it may just fit.
