I had a go of the new HPI Vorza Flux 4wd buggy and watch it tear up my mates front lawn. Was a very quick machine.

The HPI website has very impressive speed stats for it if you have 2x11.1v lipo too!

haha well i was the first at the track to convert a 1/8 buggy to electric using a neu and a MMM esc ( mm used before the MMM was available!) and with 4s lipo say goodbye to tyres. destroyed 2 sets with one battery before experimenting with taping the inside of the tyres with electrical tape then adding the foams and gluing... was awesmoe and uncontrollable especially when i geared it correctly (started off with very low gearing to get used to it.) was geared for approx 45mph = 70km/hr ish... bloody quick to get to top speed too. heres a photo of it- somewhat crude but did the job and used a clear body shell so i could show off my gear hah!
and the orange i want to use again perhaps... and that chassis in my previous post is an xray t2 009. one of the nicest built cars around. just attention to detail etc which leads to an exorbadant price but hey what the hell, tough as nails too... (about 550 usd new!) edit : sorry bout huge pics oops...

Just for funs I took the drive gears off the prop-shaft on my TL01B truggy, and ran it RWD with the lowest pinion gear I have [16T 48P]. WOW! There were rooster tails.
It has so much power I can't use, so it needs to be controlled by a taller pinion gear or some trained thumb control [sticks FTW!]. Upside to the taller pinion is greater top speed. I think I will put it back to 4WD soon, because in 2WD it just rips the backyard to pieces, and it is somewhat hard to control as it launches. Will be fun for a while though. EDIT: I more or less did it to see how I would feel about having a larger 2WD short course truck for instance. Gav. Last edited by chicaboo; 09-05-2010 at 07:18 PM. |

I put the tallest gear [18T] in the Mini Hornet today, and tightened up the slipper clutch, so now it lifts the front wheels on carpet even more so than before! I'm getting a lot of gear noise from this pinion though. I haven't had a chance to try it in the dirt with all the rain today. RWD dirt drifting is quite challenging!

It's a ball diff, but I've tightened it up quite a fair bit because it was letting go occasionally. And being a ball diff, they work themselves loose after a while too. It's a lot better than the ball diff in my TL01D though, which would be rubbish if it wasn't just catching hard ABS drift tyres... My TL01B truggy has a home made viscous diff, which seems to do OK, but would probably be better off as a locker.

i hate ball diffs. only thing which stopped my tc3 from being awesome.. they just kept coming loose and couldnt figoure out how to stop it... even superglue failed with the power (think 6s + long can motor - would actually do a 1/2 decent burnout. check youtube "tc3 burnout" for something similar haha

Quick question about painting shells:
Can you paint black over white or not. I am going to have white as my main colour but I want a black interior so it is nice and dark inside. |

If you put enough coats of white down, you might get away with it. Otherwise, tint your windows and crazy with the overspray.

Yeah was thinking on doing about 5-6 coats and then back spray with black. I have a can of smoke so might try that as well. I have some left over lexen so will try on that.

No spraying the inside white as the main colour but I want the inside to be dark so want to paint the last layer black.

My DJR AU body is red, yellow and blue with white backing to bring the colours out.
Jarrod wants to do white [internally] with black backing so you can't see in to the car. Jarrod: If you are worried, put down a layer of silver before you do the black. Gav. |
