either buy the cheapest (was $35 delivered for my last 55W kit) or buy the $300-1000 kits. IMHO. theres no difference (really) that i could tell from my 30, 70 and 300 kit. (the $300 one was bought here in australia and was a 55W, when you couldnt get them cheap from china about 3 years ago.

get 4300 for slightly whiter light than stock, or 6K for blue tint. dont get 8k, they look and perform badly.

As tc3 said definately go slim ballasts. Easier to mount.
In the year and a bit I've had mine installed (paid $72 for them o eBay Aussie seller), I've had only one problem. A ballast shat itself. That's why I bought Aussie. Sent them an email, they express posted me a replacement and gave me a prepaid postage box to return the faulty ballast for reconditioning/testing/throwing out.

EDIT: can't find the seller anymore

Yeh well i guess it's a question of what monetary value you put on peace of mind. If it makes you feel better, Phillips HIDs retail for $499. You're getting a bargain

IMHO, for $70 you get 4 ballasts and 6 bulbs o/s.... All my kits are more than 12months old and no issues at all.

Yeah I went for the cheapest one I could find on eBay, $35, I get a slight flicker in one of my bulbs, but no one's noticed it yet.

1. Ebay - Seller is Autoplatonium
2. $107 delivered
3. Australian backed company, with 2 years warranty (changed now I think)
4. One ballast was faulty, they sent out a replacement incl satchel to send back the dud one
