Spudley's BG (Maureen)
Hey all!
First post here, just thought I'd say g'day and show some pics of my BG Astina. I've owned her (Maureen) since about November 2013, and was only purchased as a cheap daily to get me to work when it's too **** outside to ride the pushy. She's only a 1.8L SOHC auto (76kw version), but she does the job for daily commuting. She still looks the same as when I purchased her (minus the original hubbies), but I've done a fair bit in replacing worn parts. Since owning her, a list of stuff I've done is service (oil, air, fuel filters, pugs, leads), new front DBA discs, Bendix front pads, flushed all brake lines and bled, replaced front driver's side brake hose, replaced all coolant hoses, replaced front passenger driveshaft and wheel bearing, tinted windows (front 30%, rear 20% visibility), replaced air con compressor and re gassed, Alpine CD/USB player, Reference 6x9's, Isotta steering wheel, Whiteline HD rear sway bar, pod filter, and a sportier rear muffler (NOT a cannon). Future plans include getting her detailed, as the chalky looking duco is just oxidization from a previous partial respray from the previous owner. I've been by a detailer that he'll be able to get all this off and back to her former glory. Also currently on the hunt for some 4x100 wheels. Something of the same era would be awesome in a 15x8" size, but I'm still looking for ideas. Down the track I may consider buying a complete SP model and doing an engine swap with the DOHC manual. Ultimately, it would come down to which has the better body, as mine has absolutely no rust, but SP's are known to rust out the sunroof..... We'll see later.... Otherwise, next I'll be starting on replacing all the bushes slowly, and the rear engine mount as it's got a bad vibration at idle. Anyway, PICS! Pod filter has recently been relocated below where the standard air box goes, with a 90 degree elbow. |

Cheers mate!
If anyone can shed some light on what height springs I should be putting in, that would be much appreciated too.. King Springs make a 2" or 1" lower spring, but I'm not sure if I'll scrape with 2" lower springs in there... Cheers, Spud. |

Welcome. It looks like a decent shell for a project. No rust and no big damage...the dash looks neat and uncracked. It should come up well with a decent cutback. Pics when done eh?
edit: four month old post bump its all the tire smoke I inhaled today I swear! Last edited by ghetto3; 28-09-2014 at 05:47 PM. |
