SP23 vs RX8 Wheels
G'Day,
As some of you would know, I'm looking at getting an SP23 later this year. But, I like the RX8 'Shadow Chrome' wheels, especially with the blue I'll be getting. What I'd like to know is, are the stud patterns the same for RX8 and SP23? I know they've both got 5 studs, but does everything else fit? Plus, aren't the RX8 wheels 18 inch?? Cheers Gaz

Yep.. RX8 wheels are 18's.. they fit on a Mazda6 so i don't see why they wouldn't on a Mazda3.. It would look rather sexual actually..

hmmm good question. i dunno if anyones managed to get 8" wide mags on their 3 yet. alot of guys in the states are running high offset 7.5" enekis atm as lowish offsets will scrub tha guards
oh remember the 17"s on the 3 are only 6.5" wide. fairly ghey size if u ask me. u may have issues with insurance going to 8" cheers mike Quote:

Hmm, well apart from the width issue, the major problem is going to be insurance.. We'll have to go and see...

Yeah, the RX8 Shadow Chromes are $1,500 a set (as an option on the RX8), or they were last time I checked... hopefully they'll fit, there'll be no probs with insurance and the price has come down... yeah, right and pigs might fly

I actually despise most forms of 'Chrome' wheels (sorry guys and gals who have it). It looks cheap, tacky and generally ****, IMHO. But the Shadow Chrome wheels for the RX8 actually look classy.
*Ponders, am I going to get flamed for the Chrome remark?*

If they are optional for the Rx then you may find that for an extra $1500 they can be fitted to the SP. Sometimes dealers just can't see past the $$$ and it can't hurt to ask.
As for the chrome comment..... well hey I'm not a chrome person either but at the end of the day it's you car and your choice.

i'm with you there james - no chrome on my car (apart from cooler piping and that doesnt count :P )
i wouldnt call the rx8 rims chome anyway, i'd say polished. not a big fan of chrome! but it's your car (well will be) so you can do what you want to it etc tec

shadow chrome is nice..
and it is repearable compared to chrome.. i dont like chrome for 2 reasons.. 1. Too friggen boom pow stand out no matter where you are type of thing.. 2. If you scratch or even mark em... you might as well throw em out and buy new ones cause to refix them costs alot of money... Oh... theres a 3rd reason 3. Too hard to keep clean.. you polish em... go out for a drive... get outta car... and they dirty again =P So yeh... i wouldnt be a fan for chrome.. But ive been lookin at Shadow chrome rims for my car.. if not just plain alloy wheels look fine =P heheh but its all up to you =P

Right, well, that does it. RX8 wheels comin on my SP23 (If I can get the $$$). I might look into the 2nd hand wheel thing...could save much needed $$. The minor decrease in performance from the larger wheels does not concern me at all. Especially once it's out of warranty and the CAI/Exhaust goes in
