I got the T28BB from a guy on NS.com who had just bought a S15 Halfcut from Japan and didnt need it, cost me $500.

The halfcut had about 32,XXXKM on it so the turbo is in goo knick, next to know shaft play at all

Lag shouldn't be a problem with these as Ive heard that they spool just as well because the ex housing is very similar to the T25G ex housing, the comp housing just flows a sh!t load more through it, either way, if you have an EBC, readjusting the sensitivity and gain should eliminate the problem almost completely...

Apparently flowing these things at 10psi is equivalent to 15psi on a T25G but with about 200 more rpm worth of lag...thats what a guy told me on NS.com, and he was only running a bleed valve...

Dont know what the results would be on a 1.8L though, CA's have proven results over 200kw with minor mods...

Thanks 4ORGD...

EDIT: 1St Pics Updated Links..

New Pics of the RAS kit (Rocker Arm Stopper) and the T28BB goin in...

Also Painted the Rocker Cover and replaced the fasteners with SS Dome Head items..

Got the Radiator, Nismo Thermostat and the New Water Pump in...

Ive got the T28BB running 10psi atm, the results are absolutely insane...just gotta run the car on the dyno to check the AFR but Ive been assured by alot of tuners that running 10psi on this turbo with my setup is more then comfortable, alot of people actually run 13psi on a more standard setup...so Im happy...

Ill take some more pics of the setup when I get my CF Airbox, atm the pod is just ziptied to the old box brackets...

Ive got some anchors for the car, eventually, when I can afford the 5 stud rims I want, Ill go 5 stud and whack these on...

There off an R33 GTS-T Disc size is 298mm x 30mm with 4 pot brakes..All with braided lines.

I plan on keeping the rear brakes standard as they are the same across the S chassis range...and just getting some S15 rotors to suit...

hi mate,
looks like r33 gtst calipers??
my brother is looking at doing this same modification with his 180sx,
only with the z32 calipers and rotors.
just wondering how much was the upgrade, and how difficult is it??

from what i have read, upgrading only the front rotors is a very simple and effective upgrade to do,
however the rears are much more difficult and require the z32 master cylinder.
are you looking at putting the rears in at a later date??
also once you have installed them, could you please let me know how much of a difference these brakes really make,

also another benefit if these brakes is the WOW factor when you pull up at the lights,
and 90% of your wheels are filled with brakes.
which IMO looks friggin sweet. lol
cheers,
azza.

Z32 and R33 Calipers and rotors are the same (296mm x 30mm)...

For a simple Front R33 calipers, pads, 296mm rotors drilled to 4 stud and braided lines your looking at about $700, the dearest part being the huge rotors that are drilled...I got mine from Midnight Mods, a trader on NS.com for $350 but the rest I got when I bought the car, lucky me....

Im planning to go 5 stud but i cant afford the rims I want (Work Meister 3pce) so Im going the cheap root until the funds are opened up.

Since I have the ABS 180SX I already have the BM44 MC (which is the same as the RB range) so i dont need to worry about that. If you dont have ABS however, you should be ok but the pedal will have a spongy feel to it...

Upgrading the rear is a larger task because of the HB cables, if you get the R33 setup + HB cables, it should be easy. Alternatively since I have access to a hydro press I;ll simply press out the S13 hubs + bearings and fit in the S15 hubs + bearings I have from Nissan ($1040 worth trade price)

Ive been talking to a guy who had completed the upgrade previous and he said the difference if definitely worth the $$$, especially when I got just under 200kwatw...the S13 brakes tend to fall away with anything other then stock power levels...

thanks for the reply mate,
at the moment my brother isn't looking at the 5 stud conversions at all,
mainly because of the cost of the rims.
and also he has the ABS, so he wont be needing the master cylinder either.

and we have quickly learnt that the sr20det brakes are pretty hopeless,
my brother has roughly 160kw at the wheels, and we have managed to
cook the brakes on the street.

although we did cook the brakes, he isn't rushing into getting the new calipers + rotors,
as it is his every day car, and has never seen a track, we didnt think that we would see much of an improvement for every day driving.

do you drive your 180 on the road much, or is it mainly a track car?
if you do drive it a fair bit on the roads, and once you have completed the upgrade,
could you give me your opinions of the upgrade for an every dayer.

cheers,
azza

The 180 is mainly a daily driver, Id love to have it as a dedicated track car but the $$$ are crazy for 2 cars these days...

Apparently the upgrade, he said (Phil NS.com) was the BEST mod he had ever done on his car and he has over 250kwatw in his 180

ATM im running RDA slotted rotors with some QFM A1RM Pads from Greg, they are good for a daily + the skid day i just did...

Mr. Mello...The rims Im getting are SSR Professor 3Pce Forged Rims, Front: 17 x 9 +15 Rear: 17 x 9.5 + 25 with flared rear guards, unfortunately the rims are worth about $2600 with the current exchange rate so Ill have to wait until next year me thinks...the Ill use the AVS Model6's (what I have now) for track rims as they are light forged and bloody strong...

^^^ That would be a weapon, in a straight line....

Dont think ill ever need that much power, i can take 250kw VY SS's down the quarter easy.

How is it on lag?...32psi, that is crazy talk, obviously a forged grenade...or bloody $$$ to maintain...

I haven't driven since he upgraded his turbo. I drove it when he was running 20psi and it was so intense. My head would hit the seat every gear change.

It loses traction so easily, fish tails when you take off hard, that's with 275s on the back.

He needs a new clutch now, not even a cushion brass button could handle it.

Hey Guys,

Just got my 1st Power Run performed at Capalaba Performance Centre

What do you all think, the operator (Rick) said that it might be a tad on the lean side...

Current Mods: Disco Potato ex.64 (10psi max), Eboost 2, FMIC, 3" CES Exhaust, RAS kit, KoyoRad Radiator, CAI

Sorry about the large pic, Im on the goober computer and scaling in paint is gay...

Overall Im happy with the results for such a small engine list...

EDIT: This probably shouldn't be in the tech section (unless you want a comparison on a simple setup)

Thanks to all for the good day...had a chat to Nick at APC, he said the AFR were pretty good?...Rick said they were abit on the lean side...oh well, hasnt blown up yet...
